Best seen from NY, not NJ. Not worth a special trip

We were taking the ferry across from Jersey City to NYC and noticed this clock. Quite an interesting conversation piece, especially since our 2 kids noticed it.

Don't worry about booking tours, just walk down the esplanade from Exchange Place Pathway and find this clock, exactly what I did yesterday! then go back again in the early evening and see it in all its glory. Its been there since 1908 and definitely worth a visit but don't worry about having to take in a tour, just go along and experience it.

If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend taking a casual stroll along the waterfront. The views of the Manhattan skyline are absolutely stunning, and there's something magical about soaking in the ambiance of the New Jersey Colgate Clock. It's one of those places where you can't help but pull out your camera or phone to capture the moment – the clock just naturally becomes the focal point in your photos.

Sorry, but this review will be biased. My father and I both worked in Colgate's in Jersey City, my father for 43 years and I was there in the 70's. My father worked on that clock when it was on top of one of the plant buildings facing lower Manhattan. I used to go up on the roof to look at The World Trade Center across the river. I am 63 years old and have seen this clock for as long as I can remember and am so happy it is still on display in the same area as where Colgate's used to be. If you're near there, stop and see a little Jersey City history.

It is unique in the world, the largest analog clock anywhere (even Big Ben is smaller) and it still works. Fortunately for me, it is outside my apartment. It lights up JC when I am on my way home on the ferry.

I have looked across the Hudson all my life and the Colgate Clock has always been there. In fact, I hardly notice it from New York. When my daughter moved to Jersey City, I finally saw the clock up close and personal. It is sited on what seems to be a construction zone. I think that they are planning a park there but it does not seem to be moving forward. The clock is fantastically underwhelming. In the day time, all of the magic is gone. At night the magic faces Manhattan. So, if you just happen to be walking by, stop in. It is free. But do not bother going out of your way.

I do not know why they took it down. I was jogging one morning and actually witnessed them their with a truck and a few workers taking it down.

The clock is interesting and worth seeing it. The size is loved by all. It needs to sit higher in my opinion. Best to view it at night from both sides of the Hudson.

Landmark location and very refreshing. Sit here and experience the maze of jersey and hudson river. Also good for some great clicks at night time. Do not venture out alone at night here especially after 11 pm
