This is in middle of a busy town block. We could not find it easily. Somber and not so loud surroundings to be had to pay respect to the laying here.

Grave Yard from the Sopranos

Very cool graveyard downtown NJ. This is the one they used for funerals in the episodes of the Sopranos. Worth a visit to learn more about the history of JC.

Looking the old townhouses thru the camera lense
Aug 2018 • Family
Jersey City Historical Area is the place for those who are looking for capturing the feeling and ambient of those old sepia photos of the beginning of last century . This area has been restored in the past decades by the City Historic Commission embellishing all the landmark facades to its original design and materials. All these renovated townhouses are the revival of that golden era and are waiting to be captured by your camera lense while you walk and stop by beautiful coffee shops and stores.

It is a old cemetery in the middle of the block. Dates go back to 1800. A history buff will love it.

A walk around in peace; a bird singing and a history to tell in each grave stone. Story after story in the big city.

Saturdays are great for visiting the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery. Volunteers work every Sat from 9 am til 1 pm, and tours of the grounds, including the underground bunker from the War of 1812, are offered to visitors. Or you can join in and volunteer for an hour - help with planting or raking. This Spring & Summer, they will be featuring a herd of Goats for visitors to see and pet and feed. THe goats are part of a special study - a natural eco-friendly solution to invasive weeds. The nature and wildlife alone are incredible in this 6 acre oasis in the heart of urban downtown Jersey City. Just a 6 block walk from the Grove Street PATH or the Journal Square PATH stations, this is a very special place being operated and restored by an All-Volunteer mission. It is the Crossroads of the Revolution, rich with our nations earliest history, plus the very first Cemetery in the State of NJ. They also offer a calendar of Cultural events including live Shakespeare and other theatrical performances, Concerts, military and musical tributes on Memorial and Veterans Days, and more... Check their website at www.jerseycitycemetery.org or their Facebook page The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery.
