Good starting point for canoe trips along the Great Egg Harbor River

Penny Pot Preserve is a nice Pine Barrens nature preserve in Winslow Township. It has a small parking available. It is a location for nature lovers and is known for its quails and mourning doves.Trees include sweetgum and red maple as well as pitch pine.Penny Pot Stream crosses the area - in season it is popular with kayakers and canoers . Not really the best place for for hikers. Many paddling day-trips start from here.
For parts of the year the area is dominated by hunters.
