Stayed March 12 -14th and did not have the trip we had hoped for. Won't be going back. I must say that the resort is beautiful, and the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. We also ran into 2 employees who were exceptional. Honey, who happily guided us to the buffet with 10 minutes left of the time period (and after being told by concierge that we'd missed it and lost our $30 credit), and Chris at the (gorgeous) pool who opened the slide early and seems to love his job.
Our first big disappointment came after making an early phone call to reserve a spot for my daughter and I for goat yoga, and for my daughter and husband for axe throwing. We were given a time slot for axe throwing but were told a reservation wasn't needed for goat yoga. Well, unfortunately,
after planning our day around these 2 events and showing up at the Mineral Hotel for goat yoga, we were told by the front desk there that a reservation was indeed needed, and it was now full. I called so early to make a reservation and was told one wasn't needed, you can imagine our disappointment. I phoned the activities number and spoke with Heather who was very apologetic and said she would have a manager call me. An hour later I received a call from a manager, I wish I heard her name, who said she'd 'listened to the recording and something must have happened to the phone connection when you said goat yoga because I only heard yoga and you don't need reservations for regular yoga.' I didn't think about it quickly enough but afterwards I wish I'd asked her to hear this recording myself because I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY said goat yoga.
Already having been to the pool that morning, there wasn't too much else to do so we tried 'Glice skating' for $25pp. Don't waste your time or money. It is nothing like ice and your 'skates' are more inclined to go sideways than forward. There's no ridges to push off from on the skates either so even going forward isn't easy. We got off after 10 minutes, biggest waste of $50. It would have been nice to have been compensated for that given the yoga fiasco.
Finally, we go to the Saturday evening dinner and a show. When making those reservations and finding out it was $49pp ($150 for the 3 of us and my daughter eats nothing but French fries) I mentioned it was a little expensive, and the reservations agent said that it was buffet and open bar. I figured maybe a drink or 2 between my husband and I would make the cost worth it so I booked.
We arrived to find a 'Cash bar' sign at the bar! I spoke with the bartender and the host who could of course do nothing. Crystal Springs got us again. Three times and you're out. We will not be revisiting. Split Rock resorts in the Poconos is so much better for your money.

Born and raised and lived30 yrs in NJ so very familiar with most golf courses in Sussex/ Morris county's. Played Great Bear Jack Nicklaus's a couple days earlier. Have played Black Bear a couple times over the last 20 years.( reviewed) Would have liked to replay the Great Gorge Fazio 27 while visiting ( been 35 years) but the online reservations didn't have availability so we tried Cascades at Crystal Springs. With a 3600 yard 10 year old course I figured a test for me but they said was women friendly and playable and at $25 for 9 a decent value.
Pros- yes a ton of length from the tips, not tricked up, little or no blind shots, 150 yard stakes, and overall good but not great conditioning. No players seemed to be in a super hurry. I yelled at a male/ female couple behind us and asked if they wanted to play through our husband/ wife foursome and they just went to the back near the tip tees and didn't say a word.

Negatives- Foot golf( didn't see any players) sometimes 2 large cups on the same greens as our regulation cups. Goofy tees markers and just something that doesn't in my opinion belong on a golf course. Yea there's foot, frisbee, and disc, who knows what else. Hey my brother and wife had a lot of laughs on the 624 yard I believe 4th hole and we overall had s good time that's what it's all about.
No super picturesque holes.

The resort is very clean, well maintained and overall beautiful with great amenities. The service was like a rotten apple who spoiled the experience and atmosphere. We had multiple unpleasant interactions with one hostess who could have not have been more unhelpful or miserable. We witnessed others being very upset with their interactions with her. The entire garden restaurant just seemed to be spoiled by her bad attitude. We also overheard lifeguards complaining and just having inappropriate conversations that multiple guests and young children overheard. Other staff also seemed unhappy, indifferent or unempowered in their abilities to service guests. For such a beautiful place, the staff seemed miserable and definitely muted the enjoyment of many guests. The food was very overpriced. The coffee was horrible. If you go, take your own food and eat out. There were many restaurants in a short distance that seemed to be better value or better quality or better service.

Beware, Do Not stay here!!! I’m convinced the positive reviews are fake, since we met a few other guests during our stay at the Cascade lodge and we all shared the same sentiment that this is not a 4 star resort! We had high expectations, but a really disappointing experience.

When we arrived, they told us the biosphere pool would be closing early at 4:30p for a private party (it actually ended up closing earlier at 3:30p) so we did not get to enjoy the pool. This is a huge miss on the resort team, since neither the reservations team nor the website mentioned this would be the case at time of booking. It was raining that day, so our intention was to enjoy the day at the pool after our spa treatments. Completely unacceptable. I asked to speak to the manager a few times, who never cared to call me back until a week after our stay and the assistant manager was nothing more than useless. She was supposed to call us back with a resolution on rectifying the situation, but never did. My husband had to call the resort multiple times, before we finally got a response. Extremely poor management by the resort, which is reflected by the service and poor up keep of the hotel.

When we went to crystal tavern for lunch, the roof was leaking right by the bar where everyone was sitting. The waiters didn’t seem phased and just put a bucket underneath it. The food took a long time to come out, despite being an off peak time for lunch.

The room itself was quite disappointing. The AC started making noises in the middle of the night with clicking noises that didn’t stop until around 6am. I’m pregnant so it’s already hard for me to sleep as is. With this disturbance, I didn’t end up sleeping at all. I also requested extra pillows at time of booking, none of which was delivered when we arrived. There’s also no water in the room, or front desk. The shop that does sell water closes at night, so prepare yourself in advance. Otherwise, you’ll be left thirsty until the next morning. Shocked that a 4 star hotel doesn’t offer bottled water in the room.

On a separate note, the spa treatments and Latour restaurant was very nice. Our waiter was incredible and made for an unforgettable experience. Although, I hate to say that the food itself was ok. Perhaps I’m a spoiled foodie with all the fine dining restaurants in Manhattan, but for $400+ meal, I expect to have food orgasms in my mouth.

It’s up to you if you want to go here, but don’t expect a ‘luxury’ hotel experience, as they market themselves. It’s more like a 3 star hotel.

My wife and I decided to book a couple days at Grand Cascades Resort for some quality time together as we both are business owners and do not get to see each other often.

This was absolutely the wrong place to go for some quietness. Kids. Kids and more kids absolutely everywhere. Screaming in the halls. Screaming in the room next to us at all hours. Screaming at dinner tables. Screaming at the pools. There was no escaping it.
Our kids are grown and we usually don't mind. But it was out of control.

We are ones who enjoy great restaurants, but you could in no way get reservations for anything. Everything booked up for 2 weeks out. With the exception of Crystal Tavern.
The food we did have there was very good.

Getting a Spa reservation?? No way. Didn't happen.

Now for the staff... There is barely anyone working here. Understaffed is an understatement, and whatever staff they do have are preteens who could care less about their job as they would barely lift their heads up from their phones. Let along come check on you.
Not an adult manager to be seen.
There was a waitress or two who you could see doing their best to take on triple workloads. They should be commended. As well as a lifeguard who worked alone tending to at least 200 people at the pool herself.
She was never even able to man the lifeguard stand while the abundance of children jumped into the pool while their parents were nowhere to be seen. As she was too busy getting towels from the main location.

The scenery was beautiful and the bed was comfortable That's about it. For $859 a night. That's what we got.

Stay away. If I could give 0 stars I would. My family and I had stayed May 23 to 26 at Grand Cascades Lodge. They had advertised a Family Take out menu online that would need to be pre-ordered for pick up. I purchased 2 that amounted to over $300 for our first night there. Upon arriving to our scheduled pick up time, the server behind the counter said they no longer serve the family take out meals although they already charged my card. They had us order A la Cart and we spent about another $250 and stated that they would "issue a refund" for our takeout order. The charge went through and I've been trying to reach somebody the past few days to get my refund but everytime staff has answered that the manager isn't in and that they would call me back. No call backs received. I checked out on May 26 and just received notification for another charge placed on June 2nd for another $100 which had gone through. I just called the resort again and no one can give me a straight forward answer as to why my card is being charged again. They also had on their website and social media that their outdoor Vista 180 pool would be open during our stay but it was closed when we had arrived and were informed at the front desk that it would be open the following week. A lot of false advertising on their part and shady management. For the price of this resort, I expected better accommodations and customer service.

Stayed for a few days to get away over New Year's Eve. The one thing the hotel is great at is taking your money. Rooms were ridiculously overpriced for the condition that they are in. The shower leaked all over the bathroom every time it was used. Requested towels that never arrived. According to engineer there, this is a known issue, they just choose not to fix it. Toilet was not secured to the floor and the bathroom faucet was also shaky. The staff was mostly disinterested and sometimes rude, certainly not helpful except for one or two folks. The passive-aggressive Concierge possessed all the qualities one would hope a Concierge would not have, not helpful and rude. Many people who work there could not answer basic questions about the activities or restaurants. The "Glice" skating rink was a ripoff for $30 as no one could skate on it. It was like skating on plexiglass. Virtually everyone complained about it as I am sure the hotel is well aware, but they keep collecting their $30 per head. All of their activities are overpriced (if you can actually book one) and they want to squeeze extra $$ from people by forcing adults to do the activities with kids because teenagers can't be left alone to paint mason jars...

Provided feedback to the hotel over a week ago in response to their "Customer Satisfaction" survey and no response at all. Not surprising, confirms the lack of overall customer service at this place. Never again. Do not waste your money.

Stayed at the Grand Cascades Hotel. The people who work here are very nice and Restaurant LaTour is expensive but worth it! The beekeeper talk was great! Other than that, this resort is sub-standard. If I was paying $150 I wouldn’t be writing this but I’m paying $800 a night and there is no way this place is worth it! The room is no better than Holiday Inn (perhaps not even that good). The bathroom is tiny with the sink outside of it. Tiny awkward sink. Bathtub/shower combo and small. No upscale details (I.e marble) that one would expect at this price. The spa is chaotic with no waiting room. The lobby by the elevators is where one waits before/after the services so it’s certainly not a relaxing space. I’ve never been to a spa that doesn’t offer a relaxing private area. No water or other things offered in this space unlike literally ever other spa Ive ever been to. Kids/ families disturbing clients while trying to relax. Massage was fine. The buffet breakfast at $30 is disgraceful. An omlette is good but other than that, warming trays of ordinary food and not a lot of choices. Much too much use of plastic so environmentally irresponsible and should not be the case when paying $30. The biosphere pool is billed as being fabulous and it’s far from it! Fairly small with cloudy water. Very disappointing! This issue is price/value. I honestly can not recommend Crystal Springs.

Stayed here in December, and was very disappointed. There was a power outage that lasted from 4:00pm to almost 9:00pm on the second night that we stayed. During that time there were no amenities available. I was told that I would receive a credit for that night since the pool was closed, the rooms were pitch dark, etc. however, that was dishonest because the “credit” turned out to be 20% off another nights stay. Since I can’t use with any other discount, this turns out to be useless as there are discounts packages available with better rates.

Anyway, I had been excited to come here and enjoy the beautiful biosphere pool. It turns out however that this pool is not warm and tropical as it appears online. It is actually cold. There is a small hot tub area on the top which was warm and pleasant, however, it’s super crowded. There is also a small outdoor heated pool which was warm, but it was littered with drink cups and garbage that people left, and there appeared to be no one around to clean it. The pool area sorely lacked seating, so we had to lay our things on the ground and stand. Not relaxing. In addition, the shower in the woman’s bathroom was filled with slime and hair. They really need to do better with maintenance.

We will not be back.

I can't even begin to write this review without recognizing Gemmy, the hotel manager. I had the opportunity to speak with Gemmy several times throughout my stay, and each experience was better than the last. He was not only understanding and empathetic, he was incredibly thoughtful and generous with his time. During an otherwise PACKED weekend, he ensured that my father, who is disabled, was comfortable at all times- and that my mother had everything she needed. He checked on us, chatted with the kids, and had a smile on his face every time we saw him. Honestly, his service really blew me away. Thank you, Gemmy, for everything you did for us. You are a gem- and the resort is lucky to have you.

Speaking of the resort- it was fantastic. Completely exceeded my expectations for a local resort, particularly because it was over Labor Day weekend (and in the middle of a pandemic). The pool and property were stunning and entertaining (live music was a huge plus!), the restaurants were excellent (seafood was consistent and delicious), and the rooms were spacious and accommodating. I would 100% recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun weekend with the family!
