It is one of the nicest sections of Monmouth County Park System . Good for hiking but very popular with bikers. Easy and relaxing. It follows the path of the former 19th century Pemberton and Hightstown Railroad. It is surrounded by beautiful farmland. Northern access does not have a good parking.

This trail is great for a family bike ride or hike. It's well maintained and there are ports-potties along the way.

It's been expanded in recent years and is great. Just be careful crossing Rt 539!!!

This is one of the best ideas the county has done. You can walk your dog, ride your bike or horse? everyone you run into says hello.
If you are riding a bike just make sure to avoid the horse droppings!

This review deals with the newest section of the trail, an additional five miles that has opened fairly recently bringing the total trail length up to nine miles. My previous review dealt with the the southernmost four miles beginning at Route 537. At the time of my earlier review, the trail stopped near the Cream Ridge golf course. When I saw that a new section of the trail had opened, I had to check it out.

If you want to explore the new portion, you can still start from the original trailhead for an 18 mike total ride. I chose to park at the northernmost parking lot, which the official Ocean County Parks brochure lists as 70 Herbert Road. The GPS said the address was in Trenton even though it is nowhere near. Anyhow, the parking lot is 3 or 4 minutes from exit 11 on 195. There is ample parking and toilet facilities there.

The parking lot is .85 miles from the present northernmost terminus. I rode north to the end just to check it out. Then I went back and rode all the way to the old trailhead, about 4.3 miles from the parking lot.

It is a pleasant ride, mostly flat and passing primarily through farm land. I saw a few deer and other wildlife on my ride. You also pass under Route 195. It was a nice ride and a quiet, underused trail. The new addition is a great improvement to an under-appreciated gem. Biking enthusiasts in Central New Jersey should make an effort to try it out.

We walk our dogs here all the time. It's flat so it's good for bike riding however it is gravel so in less you have a mountain bike it might be a little bit harder to pedal. You can also take your horse on this trail as well. I highly recommend it for walking, riding a bike, or riding a horses The trail is marked so you know how far you've gone. TKS ice cream is right down the road so after you get a good walk in go for some delicious ice cream!

This trail is awesome and highly recommend. Great for runners, people who bike, walk your dog and riding your horse. The trail just recently fully opened. I believe from start to finish is 8 miles and if you want to bike like me, it is 16 miles round trip. Parking available at different locations

The UTT is a peaceful underutilized ten mile long rail to trail bike ride through beautiful farm county of Western Monmouth County. Lots of choices for the return loop including several county parks, Cream Ridge Winery, Screaming Hill Brewery, and TK’s ice cream.

This bike ride is very nature-ish. You pass many farms and deer that come running on the trail. They have recently connected two sections of the trail which make it an interesting mid-length ride. It is all gravel trail.
