We had a great time at the zoo. Although the zoo is technically free, they do ask for a donation when you arrive, which we gladly gave a few dollars. Parking was also free. I recommend arriving as early as possible. It fills up pretty fast. Overall it seemed well kept. Lots of different animals to check out. They have a nice souvenir shop at the entrance and food/drink stands throughout. You can easily spend an hour or two walking around so wear comfortable shoes. Only thing I didn’t like were the people at the front entrance. They didn’t even acknowledge you when you arrived. Not very friendly, but we still had a good time.

My husband, 6-year-old, and I spent five hours at this zoo/park, and it was a highlight of our trip to Cape May. The zoo is part of a beautiful large park that offers trails, zip lines, shaded picnic pavilions, plenty of parking, and a fantastic playground. This zoo is better than Philadelphia, and we couldn't believe it was free/donations. Everything was very clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the impressive variety of animals had nice habitats. Best of all, on a hot summer day, there were plenty of shady places like elevated boardwalks through the woods, so we weren't in the sun on hot pavement all day.
Take some quarters if you want to buy food to feed the goats. It was an easy walk back to the car and pavilions for our picnic lunch, and then back into the zoo. There were some snack bars with junk food; I'm glad we packed.
If you have young children, or you enjoy nature and animals, this is a fun and affordable way to spend a good part of the day.

Great trip! We arrived at approximately 10:15 am and found a parking spot next to the entrance of the museum. Both admission and parking at the zoo were free. We received a map of the zoo at the entrance, and began to follow one of the paths around the zoo. There were informational plaques in front of each of the animals, detailing a little of their background, along with a fun fact. There was even a station where you could buy food to feed the goats. The park was very clean and there were many employees in the area ready to assist you if you had any questions. Towards the end of the zoo, there was a large cafe that was open that provided both food and refreshments. The cafe was a little pricey, as we paid almost 17$ for a hot dog, small pizza and fries. I would definitely recommend this zoo for anyone in the area!

Tip: I recommend spending 3 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

Our family enjoyed the zoo and park playground for a morning activity. The zoo is smaller than others we go to but the value was great (free/ encouraging donations). They have a good variety and number of animals (lions, giraffes, and bears.. oh my). I would recommend the zoo for a fun morning activity.

Beautiful outing on a sunny weekend day in November - the zoo was very busy. All appropriately COVID-adjusted they require the masks to be worn throughout the entire visit to the Cape May Zoo. The visiting process is 90% one way pattern and there are no indoor activities open. The entire visit felt safe and was very enjoyable. The Zoo itself is educational and interesting. Easy to take in and not overwhelming.
Simple, ample and free parking. Donation at the entrance to the Zoo itself but no formal fee. You get a map you can recycle at the end. Picnic areas. Park nearby. Great busy playground right outside the Zoo was busier than the Zoo itself.

I was pleasantly surprised by this zoo. I thought it would be a small little zoo with a few animals. The zoo is far from small and offers a variety of animals. The Grounds are beautifully maintained and the animals appear to be well cared for. The admission fee is a voluntary donation and it is worth a generous donation for the few hours you will spend there.

We visited here recently, three adults and three kids. The zoo is a short distance from the Parkway and both parking and admission are free. There are also picnic tables near the parking.

There are some excellent exhibits here, especially considering the price. Of note, also, is the elevated walkway through several exhibits which allows for better views of the animals. This zoo is definitely worth a visit.

My mom and I visited during our stay in Cape May. It was a cute zoo, very well maintained. Unfortunately, it was really hot the day we went so most of the animals were lying in the shade or inside their indoor enclosures to escape the sun. Therefore, we didn’t get to see a lot of the animals we would have liked to see. Overall it was a nice day out. The zoo is free but accepts donations in lieu of an entrance fee.

What a great little zoo! Been to Cape May many times and had never visited the zoo - can't believe it is free! Well maintained with plenty of animals to see and other attractions. Funded by donations so please if you go make a reasonable donation - think of what you might be spending if you visited a zoo that charges. I saw people putting pennies/quarters in the donation bucket - throw in $10 or $20! Families of 7 going in for free without tossing a penny into donation bucket. We can do better for something that is kept so clean and accessible.

This Zoo is great!! We enjoy going there once or twice a year. This time there we did the Giraffe Encounter and it was awesome!! Well worth the fee they charge for it. I would recommend anyone visited the Cape May area to visit the Zoo!!
