About
Here at the Cape May Winery, we pride ourselves on maintaining a family-owned and operated business that provides our customers with quality wines, exceptional service, and a relaxing atmosphere that makes everyone feel a part of our family after the first sip! The Cape May Winery’s journey began in 1989 with the planting of the first vines in Cape May County which started our Townbank Vineyard. Today, we grow 11 different varietals across 4 vineyards totaling 26 acres. As you can imagine, a lot has happened over the years! We invite you to be a part of our story during your next visit to Cape May and take a journey all your own through one of our tastings or tours. Wander through the many different rooms that make up the winery, explore our beautiful grounds, and and enjoy tapas from our kitchen all while discovering your own passion for wine. Cheers!

- laxinsunRockaway, New Jersey309 contributionsI nice stop for tasting so good winesWe visited Cape May Winery & vineyard to experience their wine tasting and it was a nice experience. Jerry the Shark was our teacher and he was very entertaining as well as informative. We got to taste 6 different types plus a bonus taste. It was fun and the place was very accommodating as we stopped by not knowing we needed to sign up ahead of time but they had room and fitted us into a class. It was $16 for the tasting, education and included stemless wine glass and a bottle of water. They had good virus precaution set up.Visited October 2020Written October 6, 2020
- Sandy CMaryland1 contributionGreat sunny afternoon experienceDid the educational wine tasting with Kathy. One of the most enjoyable experiences of our vacation. Not only did she possess wealth of information about the vineyard she also shared many details about the fermenting process itself. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The white Port is delicious.. On the downside the tapas are very overpriced and less than expected and they really need more restrooms for the size if the venue.Visited May 2021Written May 31, 2021
- nursep96Baltimore, Maryland17 contributionsgreat wine with a lovely viewThis was a great winery and will visit again the next time I am in Cape May. They are offering several wine flights rather than a tasting experience because of Covid-19 and it works out well. The wine was delicious , the staff helpful, and all wore a mask, encouraged social distancing and had plexiglas in place for protection. If you are a wine lover like me, this should be on your list the next time you are in Cape May!Visited October 2020Written October 22, 2020
- Krista G3 contributionsRude ManagerI am EXTREMELY disappointed in this winery. I was with a group of women ages 27 and older. We had called ahead to ask how long the wait was and were spoken to very rudely and vaguely by the manager. When we got to the winery, we were again treated very poorly. We were understanding of the fact that we could not all sit together, so we asked politely if we could sit at the three open tables next to each other. She told us we could not use those and then reluctantly told us we could use 2 tables that were not even near each other. This is despite the fact that there were plenty of other open tables. We decided to leave, because we do not support businesses that meet potential paying customers so poorly. However, if you would like to go visit a LOVELY winery with beautiful scenery, friendly and accommodating staff, and delicious food, I would highly recommend Willow Creek Winery in Cape May!!Visited August 2020Traveled with friendsWritten August 1, 2020
- mrsellinghamCoulsdon, United Kingdom35 contributionsLovely place- really rude staff.Beautiful vineyard, live music was really lovely. We were a party of 12 but aware that they don’t accept parties of over 6, we were happy to split and sit at separate tables. We explained this to the lady that was seating us and she repeatedly told us they didn’t accept parties of 12. When we explained that we were in fact 2 parties of 6 she said there were no tables available- we then pointed out that there were several tables available. She told us to wait and then deliberately sat us at tables at separate ends of the vineyard, despite there being a few empty tables next to both. (We did try and book in advance, but whoever was dealing with emails was equally as rude and told us there was no room for 12 and that someone would be waiting in the parking lot to move us on. That’s why we came up with the solution of 2 parties of 6- even though the email reply itself was a massive red flag!) There was also lipstick on the wineglass I received. When I raised this with the woman behind the bar she snatched it from me and gave me another glass with a ‘all better’ and no apology. It’s a shame as there was also some really lovely staff that definitely added an extra star to my review.Visited June 2022Traveled with familyWritten June 25, 2022
- Savanah21 contributionsGreat wine and amazing food in the best atmosphere!Cape May Winery beyond exceeded my expeditions. It is a rustic gem buzzing with a lovely clientele and a hard working staff with lots of talent. My group of 8 women in our 40s had reserved a table in the wine cellar designated for larger groups. Lucky for us they decided to move us to the main room on this occasion and we sat at the fireplace and ordered food and red wine flights there. After half hour a musician started setting up to my surprise. I had not known live music was going to be played. The musician was amazing! We took turns ordering food in the room Nextdoor where you pick up food and wine to bring back to your table. They serve a tapas menu so we wanted to try everything. And we did! Some items we ordered 2 or 3 times because the food was of culinary perfection. The chef was outstanding. I’m a foodie and have to mention the food here is among the best in Cape May that I have had, hands down! I would not be able to say what my favorite plate was as they were all equally delicious. The only downside would be that your experience there is limited to an hour and a half and it was so enjoyable we would have wanted to stay all day! We were fully aware of this though as you cannot make a reservation without agreeing that you understand their policy. It is generally the same at every winery so no surprise there. The dining room wasn’t full until we were leaving and did get to stay longer and enjoyed a second flight and more tapas! I cannot wait to go back and take my husband next time!Visited February 2022Traveled with friendsWritten February 17, 2022
- Jessica VSpringfield, Virginia3 contributionsNot family friendly/rude staffAgree with the last few reviews- rude staff. At least one particular person. Not family friendly. I would’ve appreciated if they said “no kids allowed,” but instead allowed them to come in, with hesitation, and proceeded to bark strict rules about all the things they’re not allowed to do, such as eat “outside food” like goldfish crackers. Even the nicest of restaurants allow toddlers to eat goldfish crackers to help keep them occupied and calm. If her delivery was nicer, we would’ve been much more understanding. We got up and left in frustration with her before getting the chance to even order any wine and she was clearly pleased about this. I will add that my toddlers were extremely well behaved and quiet since entering the establishment. Will not give them our business in the future.Visited June 2022Traveled with familyWritten June 15, 2022
- ThePracticalTwoNew Jersey175 contributionsHidden awayGreat spot on a nice day. We enjoyed flights here on warm day- the whites were excellent. The patio area offers great outdoor seating. The tapas offered were good as well. The only issue was the noise from the construction going on on site. We didn’t stay too long because of it.Visited April 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten April 11, 2021
- Sandy and Joe SpeicherWildwood, New Jersey2 contributionsJuly 6th Grill nightThe grill night on July 6 was fabulous. The chicken and salmon were perfectly cooked and of course the Mac and cheese is so good. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of Albariño. Completed our meal with the best strawberry shortcake. Great job chef Mike and crew! The entire staff at the Cape May Winery is always welcoming and friendly and do everything to make our experience a great time.Visited July 2022Written July 7, 2022
- Nancy DEastlake, Ohio40 contributionsGreat Winery for tastings! There were 4 of us & we all had the tastings. It is a beautiful setting. The tasting were only $10 each which was a good price. The gentleman that poured our tastings actually talked about each one & how it was made. This was a nice change from other wineries we have visited. The wine was very good & I would go back there again.Visited May 2023Written June 10, 2023

We had a wonderful meal, wine and atmosphere at last nights Grill Night.
Sadly it was the last one for the summer season 2023 but we look forward to 2024 Grill Nights.
Our evening began with a charcuterie board that was filled with a broad variety was delicious cheeses, meats and veggies. The CM Roasters Coffee and Cola Grill Skirt Steak and Southwest Seasoned Grill Shrimp Skewers was accented with Red Bliss Potato Salad and Grill Marinated Zucchini. Finally the evening ended with cheesecake topped with Seasonal Fruit.
Our evening was perfect with perfect weather and music.

Excellent relaxed atmosphere and very nice wines sitting outside. We just went to sit and try their wines but weren’t disappointed. Lovely way to spend an early evening in summer. We didn’t try the tapas but looked good.

I had a lovely afternoon at this winery in the beautiful seashore town Cape May. The staff is welcoming and the grounds are beautiful. I enjoyed a mixed flight of wines with a delicious lobster slider and brie with blackberry jam. The wine was delicious. I brought some nice souvenirs in the gift shop. On a sunny day make sure you treat yourself to this excursion.

What an incredible afternoon at this place! The service is outstanding! The wine is great and affordable! And, the ambience - well, drinking wine by the fireplace never gets old :) So happy I discovered this place. (As a bonus the music soundtrack in the background was also great!)

This review is on the bar & dining aspect of the winery – we did not do a tasting or tour, but instead stopped for lunch. As such, some of the standard rating elements for “restaurants” are not available as it’s treated as an attraction.
The first thing that threw us was the fact that you ordered food from one counter and wine from another. I’m OK with the fact that there is no table services (not in ordering, delivery, or table clearing), but to have separate counters in different buildings/locations with different checks (and no ability to run a tab) is just a poor setup.
Regarding the food and wine: my other half and I bought a red and a white (1 blush) flight in order to sample as several of their offerings ($15, 3 samples per flight). We like each, but none stood out in particular. For tapas, we ordered the Poke Tacos ($16), Octopus ($14), and a Scallop Special ($16) they had on the menu. Each of them were good but we thought small and pricy, even for tapas if I had to pic one, the octopus was my favorite and I even contemplated getting another but for the aforementioned ordering process.
Given our experience, I would not return.
