We visited this beach twice over the course of our three day Labor Day weekend visit. Staying in a nearby hotel allowed for a convenient walk to the beach. We had to pay $6 per person entry fee upon entering the beach, which was a little inconvenient. The sand is really fine and the water temperature was acceptable for our high standards. It did get quite crowded on this holiday weekend , so getting here early to claim a space is definitely recommended. We had a good time while here at Cape May Beach.

Cape May has a very strong energy in the air, due to being at the bottom of the state. Please everyone contact the City officials to enact a ban on horse carriages and instead implement electric ones. Thank you very much. Look up these models.

Cape May has alot to offer. The beaches are beautiful with the sunrise and sunsets, you don't have to walk a long distance to get to the water, plenty of restaurants along the beachfront and the shopping on Washington Street Mall has the best shops in the area. So much to do, including the free Cape may Zoo, free festivals, boat tours, dolphin watching and so much more

If you like drugs and trash on your beach, this place is for you! If you love to pay $8 EACH PERSON for a PUBLIC beach, it's just great! Someone is raking in the cash on this deal. You pay to park also- 25c for 10 minutes...yes, 10 minutes. This city is basically taking money from the people who support them. I don't know what happened but someone decided they didn't want to pay their fair share in taxes so they put them on the tourists. Or, covid hit them hard and now they're attempting to recoup the losses. Whatever the issue (having grown up in a popular beach town and having visited many beaches from FL to CA) this place sucks. There's a lot of traffic, rude people, trash, addicts, loud noises, strange poo smells wafting about. There are plenty of better beaches to visit, just drive a little more, it will be worth it.
People drinking and wearing their underwear instead of bathing suits was an extra special touch. Lots of loud music, no lifeguards and what seemed like miles to the nearest bathroom. That's what you get for $8, folks. You can do better. One of the only positives- every restaurant we ate in had great food.

Bring quarters to park you car. 25 cents buys 10 minutes. Know how to parallel park. Watch for the influx of pedestrian traffic. Some of the port-a-potties have been placed on the street. The doors open towards the busy road. So, be careful. Stay off of the dunes. Read the rules before you go. Walk along the beach, or sit on the bench. Have a good time.

What I saw of the beach was attractive but I find it outrageous that there are fees to walk on the beach. I have been to beaches all over the world and have never been asked to pay just to walk on the beach. Also no lifeguard on duty on a weekend afternoon. What on earth are people paying fees for? I don't want to hear clean beaches because I've seen clean beaches in Hawaii, California, Caribbean and they didn't shake people down for money. I will say the gatekeepers are very polite but the fact that they ask for money turned me off the whole experience.

I do enjoy coming all the way after 3.5 hours of long drive.
Beach is nicely kept on clean condition and of course, right now, everyone is so keen on social distancing.
No crazy party people are around- very quiet - sometimes hear kids giggling or quietly chatting and mostly the sound of waves ... unlike other beaches.
People here keep well mannered and respect each other’s privacy very well, which is amazing and I would like this beach keeps like that going forward as well.

Clean beaches, easily accessible from various areas in Cape May. A lot of the B&B locations are within a short to reasonable walk to the beach areas. The beaches are clean and, based on your location, provide plenty of areas to swim within eyesight of life guards. There is a cost of $6 pp per day or $15 for a 3-day pass.

We visited during the week and it was perfect. The beaches are big, well maintained, and quiet. If you go down to the south end of Beach Ave you have views of the lighthouse. There are plenty of comfort stations with restrooms, snack stands, and beach rentals all along Beach Ave. Parking is Street parking and most spots are metered. You can download the Park Mobile app to pay via your phone and add time to the meter without leaving your beach chair.

We are staying at The Ocean Club Hotel In June. Where do they have bike rentals in that location? Are there any trollies that take you to Washington Street Shops or do you have to drive?

RV parking for a few hours? I have been to Cape May several times and very familiar with the are however, I have never been there with my 25 foot Motorhome. Any beaches (higbee, north capemay, cape may point etc...) that you know of that I can park for a few hours?

Oooops sorry, I read your question way too fast. You’re looking for a beach in Cape May where you can park your RV.
I couldn’t find a beach where I could park my little VW New Beetle Convertible, with the top down no less!
I mean, I went to the Beach Area in Cape May... but couldn’t even stand there long enough to get out of the car and take a picture.
If you want RV parks, there’s Cape May KOA, and two in Rio Grande, Beachcombers and Sea Pines.
What are the charges for chair, umbrella renting?

If you stay with any of the beachfront hotels, they typically supply the chairs and umbrellas for free- certain hotels have free cabanas as well- the hotel staff will even cart the chairs and umbrellas over for you! Day rate from Steigers for a really sturdy umbrella is $13 for the entire day, $30 for three days or 65 for an entire week. Welll worth it instead of the hassle of setting your own up!

They are all good. I usually go to the ones outside the Congress Hotel and the one down the block from the Chalfonte Hotel. These are the hotels I stay out and the beach by the hotels are very nice.

How much does it cost to rent beach chairs and umbrellas? Do they set up the umbrella for you?

I stayed at the Chalfonte so things were provided by the hotel. I just brought a blanket down with me.

What hotels are good near the beach?

We stayed at the Montreal Beach Hotel. I love it because it's away from all foot traffic of the shops, however, Harry's Bar and Grill is part of the hotel. They have live entertainment ( solo or 2 and 3 piece bands) every night. We had a room overlooking the deck at Harry's and I really did enjoy people watching. We could open our sliding door and hear the music. There is quiet time from 10:00PM to 7:00AM which is great also. They had a guest restroom on the first floor which was handy if you are at the pool or coming from the beach. Rooms were very clean! Would definitely go back!

Which beach is popular for a couple? ( I am pregnant) so a beach where there are restrooms and restaurants. TIA.

There are a few restrooms along the promenade. I would think you could select a section of the beach close to one of the restrooms.
There are no restaurants on the beach that I am aware of. We stayed at a Congress Hall property (Star) and they do offer food service on the beach.
I hope this helps.
What if we get to the beach before 10am, do we have to pay?

No, you dont have to pay, but checkers do walk around and you may then be asked to purchase a daily badge
