About Cape May Carriage
We are a horse-drawn carriage company. We provide guided tours through Historic district of Cape May.We would like to fully explain why we do not accept credit cards except online. We are located at the corner of Ocean and Washington St. we have a small unprotected mobile table that has no power,no phone and no protection from the weather. We cannot get a phone jack which is needed to take credit cards because we do not have a store front.Cape May is an island with terrible satellite and cell reception therefore the mobile credit card devices also do not help us.We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause to some .There is an ATM located directly behind where we are parked. About weather,I'd like to say this ride is completely weather driven.Sometimes we have to cancel & refund. We hope that you enjoy the horse and carriages and the joy, and beauty they bring to the hundreds of people who ride each year.

The horse and buggy ride was great! The history provided on the tour was the best information received my whole trip. The motion of the buggy being pulled along was very relaxing and enjoyable. To actually obtain the tickets for the buggy ride was a bit stressful. It is uncertain if the buggies will run everyday, but if they do run it is a first come first serve basis. First day the rides were sold out. The next day we got tickets but not until late afternoon. We were arranging our trip around the uncertainty of this buggy ride and it was somewhat inconvenient. However, in the end I am glad we got to go on the horse and buggy ride and learn some interesting history

Cape May Carriage Company. The “May” stands for : we may/ or may not answer your calls or messages. I was very excited to bring my four year old daughter to Cape May for a carriage ride. Being that it was near to her birthday, I thought it would be a great experience for her. In May, I called the number associated with the business, and listened to the rambling pre recorded message that didn’t really tell me anything, but what it did say was not to leave messages because they don’t check them. Huh? So, I emailed to the email provided for more details. Two months later I’m still waiting for a response. Their website says you can’t make online reservations anymore. In a world moving to online contact, this business moves away from it. They have the technology, apparently just not the internal drive to provide customer service. So, I drove from my beach house to Cape May to make reservations. The sign on the front door says that they are usually in the office at noon. They weren’t there. The sign says if they aren’t there, they start rides at 4 pm. They weren’t there then either. The sign says that if it’s too warm, they don’t run the horses. I’m all for keeping the animals safe. But how warm is too warm? I guess it’s a secret. Why can’t someone answer the phone? Why can’t someone answer emails? Why aren’t you there when you say you are supposed to be? So, no carriage ride for my daughter. I could have scheduled a wedding in the time it took me to try and schedule a half hour carriage ride. Sometimes people and businesses remind you why you don’t frequent them as a consumer. Thanks for the reminder Cape May Carriage.
