This was our second stop on a day trip to Cape May and we wound up spending the entire day here. It is a very nice atmosphere to walk around even on a super hit and humid day. We stopped at Delaney’s for lunch which was very enjoyable, and most of the stores were extremely accommodating for me and my walker. In fact all but one store not only had more than enough room for my walker but the staff was very welcoming and helpful.

Unfortunately, there was one store that I could only navigate part of it because my walker would not fit down most of the aisles. The worse part is that the worker or owner, an older woman came out from behind the counter and just stared at me the entire time. She made me very uncomfortable and I left the store without any purchase. It was very disappointing and uncomfortable. The store was very limited, it had some Cape May wear and a whole lot of overpriced, decorative, plastic bags in many sizes.

That does not take away from the whole visit! There are plenty of benches and areas to sit and relax, lots of food options, and unique shopping at reasonable prices. I’m looking forward to a day trip on a cool fall day with a cup of coffee from one of the many stores. Although we were able to find parking it was a little pricey. It utilized a convenient app that we could refill from a distance.

A few mentionable favorite stores with very kind and helpful staff are Just for Laughs, Great White Shark, Dellas 5&10, Love the Cook, Red Oak Trading, Atlantic Book Store, and Delaney’s Restaurant.

Great stop off, well worth a ride to check it out even if your not staying in cape may. I am very sure you will find something to interest everyone. They have a ton of different stores. Its smithville only larger. Loads of different stores and places to eat. I do not suggest you go when its hot out because then its stifling without so much as a breeze and with the beach being only blocks away. Driving in you can see all the beautiful homes. Its really a nice trip to make I would highly recommend now as far as the stores be prepared they are pricey but then again I am sure that the rent here is expensive. I am thinking maybe a trip during the xmas holiday is needed.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed a day-trip from Ocean City to explore downtown Cape May and Washington Street Mall a few weeks ago! Our only major frustration was parking in Cape May. Wow, I think I've lost track of how many loops around the blocks and combinations of streets we drove to finally find a parking spot - a handicap accessible parking spot that is too. Possibly that is just the way it is with parking in Cape May but hopefully we'll have better luck next time or at least be better prepared with identifying parking options. Overall though we loved all that Cape May has to offer and look forward to the day when we can actually stay there versus a day-trip!

There was a complete disregard for any social distancing, wearing of masks maybe 40% of the people wearing them. Stores were crowded, people standing dangerously close to each other. 1 - 2 hours wait to get into a restaurant. After my friend and I waited 1 1/2 hours to sit at a table, we were escorted to a section in the back of the restaurant directly behind the garbage dumpster!! We were being bitten by bugs coming from the garbage and the food was completely inedible. I love Cape May but felt very unsafe and disgusted with our dinning experience.

We stopped here because it was recommended as a “must visit” by a previous client of mine (I’m a travel agent).

We visited on September 16th around noon. Parking was insanely crazy. The shopping strip was very very crowded. And I wasn’t very impressed. However, we did make the most out of it and spent about two hours walking around and checking things out.

There are several shops and restaurants.

Would I come back probably not. But I would still recommend for certain groups.

Bathrooms were very clean, the shopping strip was clean.

It's an outdoor mall that is a couple of blocks of pedestrian only streets filled with a wide range of shops (see photo). From high-end jewelry and art to t-shirts, tschotes and gifts, this place is perfect for tourists and other vacationers. Of course, I had buy an Exit Zero T-shirt.

There are also lots of food options from sit down restaurants to multiple ice cream and candy shops. We went for a big ice cream cone and a box of fudge for snacking later on.

There was zero physical distancing at the Washington Street Mall, but it was great to see families out and about, enjoying a summery vibe. The shops are very cute and there are some unique ones - a lovely bath store and an all cotton store with luxuriously soft clothing. Even the uber-branded Cape May places had unique items and usually featured local artists. Still, this mostly was a meh experience for me. I'd prefer to find the little local places that are off the beaten path. My husband enjoyed not one, but two ice cream shops.

The mall stores are mostly expensive even by shore town standards. A couple are worth it. the fudge kitchen, purchased several items from the Winterwood Christmas Shop next to Ocean Street great selection and good prices, a couple of the casual jewelry stores. The ugly mug is a good restaurant for service, food, value.

One of the nice things about strolling around the area on a chilly afternoon mid-week in March, is that there are no crowds to maneuver.
All the shops may not be open; but those that are welcome their customers, and are often happy to talk and provide information, stories & insights. And, it's still almost iconic to traverse one of the finest historic pedestrian malls in the country.
There are interesting and varied establishments to explore; but as with Cape May overall, it's the architecture that's the star.

We were in cape may on a rainy day with two 15 year old girls and a 9 year old boy. We went to a few shops and got ice cream at Washington street mall. We had been staying in wildwood so were very pleased with the variety, uniqueness and cleanliness of the shops here vs wildwood. It was really busy, so hard to social distance but I feel like most people were wearing masks. Cute architecture and plenty of street parking.
