The site of the nature center itself is on a city block, not by a nature preserve. They have a nice gift shop and a couple of small areas with nature exhibits appropriate for young children - turtle, snake, tarantula, octopus, hermit crabs, etc. There's an upper level that offers a lookout over the water. You can see it all... More

The Nature Center had brought a group of water creatures to our hotel (The Grand Hotel), and my 7 year old got to "pet" a spider crab, a horseshoe crab (awesome!), and various sea snails. So, we decided to stop by the center on our way home -- so glad we did! The staff are terrific - happy to share... More

The Nature Center of Cape May is located near a beautiful body of water. We where leaving our Cape May trip and wanted to do something before finally heading out- and swung by here after doing some TripAdvisor research! The building is beautifully kept. The workers are so friendly and wanted to chat with us about local nature- which we... More

Our original plans were canceled at the last minute and I had to find something else for my niece and nephews to do. We stopped by the nature center just in time for the nature tour. Our tour guide, Sam, was terrific. My nephews asked a bunch of questions and he patiently answered them all. They couldn't stump him. On... More

We stopped by before Memorial Day and they were just starting to get things together for the high season. One staff member took the time, though, to answer our questions and show up around. It should be a prize visit after Memorial Day.

Near the Coast guard base on the island of Cape May. sign up for one of their events like the one where kids explore the edge of the harbor across the street to find things

I liked the change for a change. In addition to the lighthouse, this is an interesting place when you just don't feel like the beach.
