About
The poet took great care in designing his final resting place, which has become the victim of neglect.

It is interesting to see Whitman tomb but it is a bit disappointing as it is not well cared for. See it once and take a friend if they want to go. But once or twice is enough .

Years ago, not recently... My Dad and I walked from his mother's home to Walt Whitman's grave when I was a girl. It made an impression on me, as I later studied Whitman's poetry and loved it. Dad grew up not far from here, around...More

Sorry, but I wish I could tell you this was a well preserved memorial park, but it appears to be more of a hang-out for homeless Camdenites. Not well kept, given the historic magnitude of old Walt.

It is set back in the recesses of the cemetery. There are Whitman "readings" and different times. A very old historic mausoleum

If you're in the area, and are into writer homes or a fan of Walt Whitman, so on in to check it out. There isn't a whole lot to the stop. But it's interesting and history.
