I made a special appointment to see the Barnegat Light Museum because it had been closed over the last few months because of COVID. The President of the Museum Board came in to give me a special tour and we spent the afternoon going over all the exhibitions in the museum. The museum was once a one room school house and houses the original light for the lighthouse. That was fascinating with its unusual design. There are all sorts of interesting artifacts in the museum from old china and housewares, to dinosaur bones that we found in the bay and donated to the museum. There is a complete history of the old school house which was used until the 1950's including pictures of the classes and notes from the students. There are all sorts of decoys that represent the areas hunting past and all sorts of nautical items shopping the shipping and fishing industries. The walls are line with pictures from every era. There are all sorts of artifacts from its past from old signs to businesses long gone. The museum covers all sorts of stories of Long Beach Island that are nicely displayed in one room. It is well worth the visit. The gardens that surround the museum are maintained by the Long Beach Island Garden Club and are really nice. Take time to walk through the paths and admire the plantings and flowers. I highly recommend this small wonderful little museum.

The museum is located close to the Lighthouse. It has all sorts of exhibits that give the history of the area, the lighthouse, bird life, etc. The admission is free. A very good stop for school aged children.

this is a must stop for both visitors and locals who are interested in everything about Barnegat Light, they have the original lens from the lighthouse which is amazing. Lots of information and helpful staff. Stroll thru the gardens (Best May- Sept) and see the dedication bricks. VERY WELL DONE.

This is a small museum staffed by very helpful, informative, personable staff. The history replete with old photos is interesting. In the museum a small gift shop has mementos, such as Christmas ornaments, t-shirts, cards of the Barnegat Lighthouse.

Nice small museum and pretty garden out back. Only spent about 1/2 hour here so if you're in the area stop in to check it out. It's free but you can leave a donation.
