Interesting for the history

Definitely check it out if you’re in the area since it was built all the way back in 1837! There isn’t much to it - and it’s much more plain than the others in the area but still worth a quick stop.

There isn’t much room to park and it’s a very busy bridge so I didn’t feel safe walking on it. There aren’t any pathways off to the side so you have to kinda walk off into the trees to get a picture. But there’s a nice view coming out the other side!

COOMBS COVERED BRIDGE
Jun 2019 • Couples
Touring New Hampshire, we tried to revisit a lot of covered bridges, waterfalls, and other sights. Coombs Bridge Road is off Old Westport Rd whitch is off Rt 10 southboun between mile marker 9.7 and 9.8. There is parking available but the bridge is for vehicles only, no foot traffic. A lot of the bridges have a brown sign indicating the bridge number. Watch for the signs. This is number 2 in the New Hampshire system.

Its always nice to be able to go over a covered bridge once in awhile. Next time when time allows me to I have to stop and just take a moment and walk across and admire the bridge and think about its history.

Lovely Old Bridge in Winchester
Nov 2017 • Friends
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Coombs Covered Bridge over the Ashuelot River in Winchester, NH is one of six spectacular bridges each within a few miles of each other in this part of New Hampshire. A group of friends and I made a point of visiting these bridges while on a visit here a few weeks ago. Some were a little difficult to find...this one was perhaps the easiest of all of them.

The bridge was named after its owner and probable builder. Dating to 1837, the bridge is in great condition and was renovated in the late sixties. This bridge is 107 feet long, and was probably my favorite of all of them.

Historic Covered Bridge from 1837
Jun 2017 • Couples
The Coombs Covered Bridge was a little difficult to find since the road it sit on changes names several times, a details not listed on any map we found. We finally found it west of NH 10, southwest of Westport Village On Coombs Bridge Road in the town of Winchester, NH. It uses Towm Lattice Trusses and sits on unmortared abutments.

Part of covered bridge tour, least of the gems
Feb 2017 • Couples
This was probably our least favorite of the six bridges we found while exploring the area, it is in need of some repair, but still can drive through safely. Great as part of seeing them all, combine with a stop at the Sweetwater distillery for a fun afternoon jaunt.

This lovely little bridge is a one span Lattice Truss style bridge and sets the tone for folks looking for the rural charm and character of old New Englnd.
