Nice rapids by grassy river bank
Jun 2021 • Couples
It involves a brief stop to enjoy crossing the bridge, parking, walking down the slope of mowed grass to big brownish rocks along the river bank to view and listen to the rapids up close. The water is clean and clear.

Absolutely gorgeous! Great spot to relax also!

This was one of the most beautiful bridges I visited in New England! It’s very quaint and bucolic and the surrounding area is breathtaking with the fall foliage! There’s also a nice walking area and a large “park” with seating by the river and even a gazebo.

The bridge was built in 1832 but has been reconstructed. There’s a lovely walkway off to one side with great views and photo ops along the way. Plenty of parking on both sides. Loved it!

WEST SWANZEY BRIDGE
Jun 2019 • Couples
Touring New Hampshire, we tried to revisit a lot of covered bridges, waterfalls, and other sights. This bridge is also known as West Swanzey Bridge. Main Street is off Route 10 northbound. The bridge is for vehicles and foot traffic. There is a picnic area A lot of the bridges have a brown sign indicating the bridge number. Watch for the signs. This is number 5 in the New Hampshire system.

Brings Main Street across the Ashuelot River
Nov 2017 • Friends
The historic Thompson Bridge can be found right in the middle of the town of West Swanzey, NH and brings Main Street across the Ashuelot River. Built for the town in 1832, the bridge features lattice truss design and includes a pedestrian walkway to one side.

This attractive bridge is in excellent condition and still bears traffic across the river. The bridge is 136 feet long and is on the National Register of Historic Places. A small park nearby makes it easy to photograph. Don't miss this one! Enjoy!

Beautiful functioning bridge
Nov 2017 • Couples
The bridge was in great condition and showed the quality of workmanship of the long gone past. It was very close to our Bed and Breakfast so we used it often during our stay.

Classic scenic New England, one of may covered bridges in the area. I can't say this one in particular stands out from any of the others, but if you love covered bridges, add this to your list.

Historic Covered Bridge
Jun 2017 • Friends
One of 6 covered bridges in southern NH area. Thompson Bridge has recently seen the dam which once fueled the energy for the Swanzey Wool Mill. There is a small park to walk up to the bridge.
Suitable for all ages at any season.

Nice bridge-longer than most
Oct 2016 • Friends
This bridge is over the Ashuelot River and is 136 feet 10 inches long. It is red and has some nice lattice work. There is a sidewalk on the south side of the bridge and it is located near a former mill which is currently unoccupied. There is an area where you can park and take pictures. It is a nice looking bridge that was built in 1832.
