Took this whale watch in June. It was a cloudy day with a bit of rain, but there is an inside bench that we took advantage of until we were out to the ledge. Saw one particular humpback whale that surfaced many times and at least one minky whale. It was my first whale excursion, but it did not disappoint. Crew made a great effort to keep us where we could see the humpback. The narrative from the marine biologist was educational. Would definitely go again, but in better weather. Unfortunately, one cannot "book" a sunny day.

Reserved in advance to make sure we got aboard as we were driving from Bartlett NH to Rye harbor approx 2 hrs away. This is our 7th or 8th whale watch and we have always seen whales. The boat is quite fast and it takes approx 1 hr to get out into the Gulf of Maine and over the ledge. We saw 7 humpback whales and numerous dolphins over a period of 2 hours. The naturalist on board was able to identify the whales by the markings on their tails and was very informative. Rye harbor has easy parking $$ and 2 take out cafe's. Can't wait until next year!

My adult son and I took a wonderful trip out to Star Island on the "Uncle Oscar" boat. The captain provided interesting commentary along the way, pointing out the various islands and providing some of the lore about each one. The boat ride, which took about 30+ minutes, was delightful despite the fact that the water was pretty choppy on the way out (not so on the way back). It's a small boat, which is exactly what we wanted. Not sure there were more than a dozen people in total. When we arrived on Star Island, we chose to walk and look around instead of taking the guided tour. We were very glad we did this - the old Oceanic Hotel, the old picturesque Gosport church, the and the easy walking trails were all worth visiting. Lots of poison ivy on either side of the walking paths but as long as you stay in the center, there's no problem. There's even a tiny graveyard for the Beebe children who lived on the island with their missionary father and died in 1863 from scarlet fever. A wonderful day and a wonderful company to visit the Isle of Shoals with!

This was a fantastic day trip!! There was so much to see out at sea. We loved every second of this trip... The chase... And the whales. It was like no other experience. The wildlife was active and plentiful. The crew was very knowledgeable and informative. They knew exactly where to go and what patterns the whales would exhibit. No matter your seat, the crew strategically positioned the boat for everybody's benefit. No seat is better than another. This was one of the best parts of my trip. I actually felt like I was a part of the crew on one of those Nat Geo documentaries. With all the experience from this excursion, I think I might apply because I'm surely qualified now :)

I was surprised how informative this trip was. There were several naturalists on board and were engaging with the visitors about the whales. We had two separate sightings - a fin whale and baby as well as humpbacks. On the way back to the dock we also saw dolphins. Again, I really appreciated the enthusiasm of the crew on this trip.
