I live close to Portland, ME and go to the Salt Cellar store there quite a bit, but I also love this Portsmouth store. I'm obsessed with their luxurious spa body butters -- I've bought the mango and lemon ones and this time I bought another lemon one. They smell and feel fantastic. Next time I'll buy the kiwi one. I like the store's unique atmosphere. Friendly service, reasonable prices, and great products!

I bought the mango body butter again, only a large jar of it instead of the small one. The kiwi one will be next, for summer. They have a lavender one now that I'll have to try eventually. The vanilla and lemon ones are also great.

What a delightful place. It’s worth searching out this hideaway shop in Portland. The salts are delicious, love the garlic one, and the unique items are a delight. Can’t wait to use my salt block.
If you’re searching for a fun gift this is your spot.

The owner Judit was extremely nice and went above and beyond to make our experience great. She gave us TWO Himilayan salt blocks for free. She showed us that if we just rubbed them together it would work better than a salt grinder. They also have many different kinds of salt blends here including applewood smoked, matcha and espresso. We got a soup salter (a block of salt with a string through it) as a gift for a friend who makes a lot of soup. This is a really unique shop with an amazing owner that really made my day.

Cool little shop to spend 15 minutes. Lots of great things to buy as gifts. Some very pretty salt (rocks?) to see.

How many kinds of salt could you need? They offer an array of different sizes, shapes and uses for himalayan rock salt, along with bath salts and other body products, and flavored salts for cooking. These are clearly speciality items and the prices reflect that, but the quality seems to be very good and I love the smoked salt that I bought.

I went to this shop looking to buy some fun salts, which I did. However, the gem in this shop is an amazing hand lotion they sell with salt in it. It smells amazing (not overpowering but really nice). Your hand will feel soft hours after you put it on and it absorbs really quickly. I only bought a small one because I was flying home, but I'll be getting some as gifts and a large one for me shipped to my home.

Strolling around Market Street one afternoon, I turned down the Commercial Alley to see what was there. I came upon The Salt Cellar. It was downstairs from Hazel, a store selling accessories, clothing, and jewelry for women.

At the bottom of the stairs, an old cast iron wood-burning kitchen stove caught my eye. It was quite an antique and most likely from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. It was in very good condition, too.

I was greeted promptly and offered assistance if needed.

Browsing the flavor-infused salts for cooking, I liked the Applewood Smoked Sea Salt, Icelandic Arctic Thyme, Peruvian Pink Artisan Salt, and Ginger Root Sea Salt at $8.00 each.

The Bath & Spa Collection had a number of interesting items infused with Dead Sea salts rich in minerals that reportedly help relieve symptoms of rashes, eczema, psoriasis, itching, and other skin irritations. Items that I liked in that section included the Dead Sea Hand Cream at $25.00, Lavender Salt Scrub at $35.00, Dead Sea Soap at $8.00, Lemon Body Butter at $15.00.

There was bins with big chunks of salt at $5.00 each.

There were too many things I liked to settle on just one. After consideration, I'll return for one or two.

The display shelving was well organized.

The young fellow at the register was very nice and very knowledgeable.

There was a pamphlet about the company's Salt Vault in the Portland, Maine store. It offered 40-minute therapeutic spa treatments.

I rate The Salt Cellar at 5.0 and recommend a visit.
