This was our first ever bike tour. Our tour guide Vinny was very informative about the local history of Portsmouth and the islands. But he was also great at making sure the bike riding pace was comfortable and more importantly that we were all safe while riding on the streets.
We are 60+ and although we had a good workout we are glad we chose this tour!

I had read up on the town for our first visit to Portsmouth, and we had walked around with our tourist map. But we experienced so much more on the bikes, aa we covered the distances to various islands. Newcastle was especially charming, and not necessarily the area around the Wentworth Hotel. Marcus was a great guide—well informed and personable. We felt safe on the roads with the helmets and yellow vests, and were happy to get the outdoor exercise after days traveling.

Excellent bike tour. Marcus provided our group of four (including Marcus) on an outstanding bike tour. Everything was taken care of for us from the bikes, helmets and bright yellow safety vests so we were well seen by operators of cars, motorcycles, runners, and other biking enthusiasts. We received a great overview of the area, history, and other things to do. Marcus was a great leader and teacher! He is in fact a teacher full time in the area. He was patient and tailored the ride to our capabilities and we ranged in age from some in their 20’s to two folks in their 50’s to about 60’s or early 70’s approximately. Marcus had pre-printed maps and presentation talking points to explain to us all along the way, when we stopped for breaks. We learned about historic buildings, current cultural/music/events, and historic people in the area. We saw a lot of cute puppies on our bike tour. We took the Sunday ten am tour which was perfect for us. Our group did not want the tour to end because it was so much fun and enjoyable. We were very safe and Portsmouth is a bike friendly area to ride. Cars were extremely respectful of our group and waived us through several times at a traffic control device. The locations, views, and things we saw all along the way were breath taking. We stopped for plenty of photos. Next time I will bring a water bottle but there was a water fountain about half way through our bike ride. Most of the bikes have a water bottle holder. All the bikes had a safe, convenient and zippered compartment to hold important items like a wallet, phone, keys, etc. Marcus offered us a restroom break if needed while at the park on Newcastle Island. I was able to pay my voluntary tip with Venmo which was the easiest way for me. I wanted to leave about a 22 percent tip but there was no pressure to tip and it was 100 percent voluntary. Dawn talked with us before and after the trip. She was knowledgeable about the area and the “city - historical tour” that we will take next time. I highly recommend this tour if you want to learn more about the area, parks, areas to bike safely, and fantastic views of the ocean, bay, and surrounding communities. The ride passes a lot of patriotic sights and US American flags! Don’t miss out on taking this tour or Marcus, if he is available!

We really enjoyed our 2-hour Island and Harbor tour around historic sites in Portsmouth and New Castle. It was our first time in the area, and a great way to learn about the history and see the sights, while getting exercise and enjoying the beautiful and unique scenery. The tour includes a 21-speed bike and helmet and is a great value and fun way to explore the area. We learned a lot and had fun, and Paul was a great guide. It was a hot day, and he made sure that we were in the shade as he explained different sites.

Great way to spend your morning or afternoon! We did the ~2 hour bike tour and got to see some beautiful coastline while learning a little about the history of the area.
In terms of difficulty, there were a range of ages and prior experiences on our tour, and all were able to keep up well, despite it being 90+ degrees out. My partner is in good shape but has only minimal prior biking experience, and he had no problems. If you are looking for an intense athletic experience, you might want to opt for their longer tour, but this is a great option in giving some physical exercise while still being relatively relaxed.

I would recommend bringing water and possibly a snack. There was space to store both on the bike.

Overall, great experience!

Paul took us on the island and harbor tour. He was fantastic, he was very personable, and had a great knowledge of the area. The bikes were great and the ride was easy. We highly recommend this tour and if possible ask for Paul, you won't be disappointed.

This was an Amazing tour! Dawn was an excellent tour guide! We rode to several locations in Portsmouth and stopped while Dawn gave us snippets of history. Considering we are from New Orleans with flat terrain, I was concerned about difficult hills. We had a couple challenging spots but nothing too difficult. I highly recommend this tour! It was definitely a highlight of our vacation.

We had a wonderful time on the sea coast and cultural sites tours. Dawn, Beth, and Vinny were outstanding guides who stopped at important sites and shared amazing information about each one. These bike tours are a fantastic way to see the area and learn about the rich history. We would highly recommend a bike tour with PortCity.

What a great way to spend two hours! Really enjoyed the bike tour that included beautiful sites, interesting history and great exercise. Our tour guide, Steve, knew just when to stop to either point out something of interest or give us a break. We got to see some out of the way areas that you wouldn't normally see by car or foot. Well worth the time!

We truly enjoyed our harbor and island bike tour. The tour is an excellent way to see more of the area and learn about the history while getting a bit of exercise. An easy ride. Our guide, Dawn, was very knowledgeable and very safety conscious. Great experience! I highly recommend!
