We did a GREAT tour with Burlington Brew Tours and decided to give this one a shot. Given that we are from the area, we knew all but one of the breweries. We enjoyed the longer Smuttynose tour and touring Portsmouth Brewery, Throwback and Blue Lobster. The brewers were all wonderful. We had a tour with Chad- the owner of the company who also owns Burlington Beer Tours and Boston Beer Tours. Chad was not good. Not only did he seem to annoy every single one of the brewers when he jumped in with his "knowledge" of beer, but he generally seemed awkward. He literally interrupted the brewers when the were speaking. It was as if he wanted to be the top expert in the field. Sorry Chad, I'd rather listen to the successful brewers in successful businesses. At several points in the tour Chad complained to us that it was hard setting up in Portsmouth and he didn't know how to get his company's name out. It was awkward giving him advice and having him seem very down about the whole thing. We seemed more excited than he did. That was very strange. Here's a tip- appear to care about your business and appear to be passionate about what you do. Also- don't safety pin a patch to your polo to show you're affiliated with the business. Spend a few dollars and buy semi-professional shirts. He also sat in the van for at least 20 minutes after he dropped us off which was kind of uncomfortable. We didn't like Chad at all. His lack of passion for his business left a bad taste in our mouths. The beer did not. Again, the breweries were great! Save yourself the trouble and book with Granite State Growler Tours instead. Their van is more comfortable, the guides are more fun, and they give you pretzels made with beer!

I had previously done the Burlington Brew Tour with this company, and I am not disappointed that I went on the tour in Portsmouth as well. The Portsmouth area is beautiful. The beers on the tour were varied, interesting, and well crafted. The tour guide was knowledgeable, and lunch was superb. I ended up buying beer at two of the four breweries we visited during the tour, and going back to one of them that night for a pint. Great way to spend a day.

The brew tour we booked through Portsmouth Brew Tours was absolutely awesome and incredible! We were a little leery about the price, but so much fun! So much variety! So much beer! It was 100% worth every cent. We got to tour all different kinds of breweries, from large to very small, (Earth Eagle Brewings was my favorite) and we also got to see how the beer is distributed when we got to see the basement of Portsmouth Brewery. To our surprise, we were also served a *delicious* meal with all sorts of food made with beer. In a group of no more than 11 at a time, the intimacy really adds a special something that you won't get elsewhere. After a few days of the NH seacoast, this really was the icing on the cake. Don't miss out!!
