Housed in the old Public Library it has a introductory film and lots of basic information about the town and attractions. It also has great are exhibitions that change regularly. The staff is very helpful with questions.

We went to Portsmouth with no idea of it's historical significance. At the Discover Portsmouth there is a free short 12 minute film which outlines Portsmouth role in history. The film was great as it was short so even my 10 year old sat through it. We then did the Historic walking tour which took us through some lovely streets... More

Discover Portsmouth is the place to start. Watch a short film about Portsmouth, take a walking tour, get maps and brochures. And while there visit the wonderful gallery exhibit

Was thoroughly impressed with the Tarbell exhibit. Staff was friendly & the atmosphere was relaxed. I plan to return to see what follows. First time there. A recommended stop.

We had one day left of our tour and it was a toss up between Portsmouth and Portland. Portland won and we had less than a day here so intended to visit Discover Portsmouth for advice, however having met a very friendly and informative lady working in the Tourist Advice Kiosk in Market Square we decided instead to make our... A beautiful centrally located "welcome" center in Portsmouth. This former library hosts an amazing gallery that changes every few months with well known artists. Great staff and volunteers and a wealth of information provided about things to see and do all over the city - maps and brochures included. They even provide a 15 minute movie in a separate room... Only went here to meet up for a Best of Portsmouth tasting tour. I was not here long but browsed the gift shop. It was average.

There's always an excellent exhibition at the Discover center. I live nearby and visit often. Fun to shop and to visit the Seacoast African-American Center within the building.
