Whether or not this is a trip for you depends on your likes and dislikes and the amount of time you have. It is basically a 75 minute ferry ride to the island, a visit to a very small island, and 75 minute ride back to Portsmouth. For me it was a beautiful and relaxing time made perfect by a... More

My family of four took the 4 hour boat trip to the Isle of Shoals on a cloudy and misty day. The Isles are about six miles out in the Atlantic and once we left the river, the seas were quite rough the day we went. Several people were sick on the boat. A guide gave information throughout most of... More

We went on the 4 hour trip, including a walking tour of Star Island. When I phoned with a query the person I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. There is parking for $5 on site - I was a little nervous about how long it would take to get out as the cars are packed in bumper to... More

On a recent Monday, paid the $5 to park in their lot, checked in at the ticket window and boarded the Thomas Leighton at 12:55pm. Fantastic weather, choppy water, interesting narration. Arrived at Star Island after the 1+ hour trip. Disembarked vessel and went to the flagpole to meet the tour guide for the island tour. Fairly interesting, not too... More

Absolutely lovely two hour cruise through Portsmouth Harbor, the Piscataqua River to New Castle and back. The Staff was top notch! They are professional, friendly and very helpful. Mike O'Neil, the acoustic guitarist and singer kept us thoroughly entertained. If you are visiting Portsmouth, this is a must on your to do list!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Love this ride. This is the 4th time we have gone on it to see the Tom Dixon Band. We have also been on it to see the Shana Stack Band. Always a nice ride, good views and great musical entertainment. Drinks and limited food are on the ship too.

Classic vessel well maintained with friendly courteous crew. Outstanding trip to the Isles of Shoals where you can regularly see whales. Bring a jacket as it's windy above deck.

We took the Isles of Shoals Tour - the one that you do not get off the boat. The best part of the narrated tour is the harbor. There is not really anything to see between the harbor and the islands, but the fresh sea air and sun are great.

The day was one of those days that will remain sparkling and warm in my memory for many years to come. We took the Celia Thaxter from Portsmouth out the Isles of Shoals and loved every minute. The Captain gave just enough information along the way during the hour-long journey in calm water. When we arrived, we were so pleased... More

We specifically asked if this tour stopped at the island. No, the tour does not include the island. That is true, however, we were not told the ship is a ferry and does stop for 20-30 min to allow overnight guests to disembark.....in the meantime the paying ship guests are swaying up and down, back and forth on the ocean,...
