Classic vessel well maintained with friendly courteous crew. Outstanding trip to the Isles of Shoals where you can regularly see whales. Bring a jacket as it's windy above deck.

We took the Isles of Shoals Tour - the one that you do not get off the boat. The best part of the narrated tour is the harbor. There is not really anything to see between the harbor and the islands, but the fresh sea air and sun are great.

The day was one of those days that will remain sparkling and warm in my memory for many years to come. We took the Celia Thaxter from Portsmouth out the Isles of Shoals and loved every minute. The Captain gave just enough information along the way during the hour-long journey in calm water. When we arrived, we were so pleased... More

We specifically asked if this tour stopped at the island. No, the tour does not include the island. That is true, however, we were not told the ship is a ferry and does stop for 20-30 min to allow overnight guests to disembark.....in the meantime the paying ship guests are swaying up and down, back and forth on the ocean,... Great staff. The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Big tip: Select the left side of the boat going and coming. The information seems to be 90% on the left side both ways. We took the half trip which included a guided tour of the island. If we had to do it over we would have taken the full day.... More

We took our mother for birthday cruise on this boat to the Isles of Shoals -- what a wonderful way to spend a few relaxing hours with family! The boat had an attentive crew and some snacks and beverages to satisfy hunger or thirst needs. The day we went turned out to be foggy and misty, but it just added... More

Took the day trip out to Star Island aboard the Isles of Shoals Steamship. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to reach the Islands. There is commentary through out the cruise. Once on Star Island a 35-40 minute historical walking tour is included. Afterwards you are on your own to explore and enjoy the island. The half day cruise gives... More

My Aunt used to come on the ship to Star Island every year for a week of painting, so I decided to see what her experience was like. I don't paint, but I like interesting geology and I love boat rides and watching waves. So, I was very happy for a half day trip. Beyond that I would have been... More

Having grown up in the area, I have taken this ship many times over the years for school trips. However, we rented the boat most recently for our high school's 10 year reunion for a private sunset charter. From the beginning, the sales coordinator Tanya was super helpful and the night of, the cruise director Christina and the entire staff... More

We chose the self-guided walking tour of Star Island, so our trip was on the Celia Thaxter boat on Saturday morning. When we arrived, the parking attendant alerted us to the potential for not being able to get out of the harbor as there was a good chop on the sea. We decided to take the chance that we could...
