What a gorgeous venue and what a fabulous sound system, best ever in my experience. We went and listened to a book-tour presentation and loved the snack bar that was open and serving popcorn. Wow. The theater has been beautifully maintained and was absolutely lovely.

We were invited to tour the restored music hall and loved the decor right down to the bathrooms. We plan to return this winter to see a production.

We were late to try to get tickets for Paula Poundstone, but lucked out with house left balcony front row seats. Great seats! There actually didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Beautiful old theater with many classical design embellishments.Acoustics were fine for a comedy show. Seats were comfortable enough for what they were (old). Located right... More

We love coming here! It is a grand old building and our latest visit was for Paula Poundstone. It was nice to have booked front row seats! Prior 2 times, we saw the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. I was a little dismayed to see popcorn being sold. Perhaps for a movie house bit for a live show?

I just love coming to events here. Always so well organized and staff is super friendly. I once again attended a Writer on the New England Stage Event. Thank you for hosting these and continuing this series. This time it was for Joe Hill. Just a great fun night!

Intimate experience with exceptional entertainment. Always special and not possible to experience anywhere else. Lobby has fun curved seating and bar for pre-show gathering. Seats are tiny (even aisle seats) on the main floor. Lots of character and great décor.

Loved the old feel of the place, nice concessions on two floors, fresh popcorn, friendly ushers, and outstanding acoustics. Sat in the balcony but still felt close to stage. Don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Only gripe was the temperature which was VERY warm.

The theater has been redone and is beautiful to see. Don't miss the bathrooms. Lots of great performances throughout the year. If you are in Portsmouth visiting you should check their web site for their calendar.

What a great venue with alot of charm!! Every seat is a great seat here, whether you be floor level or mezzanine. Bathrooms have plenty of stalls and interesting design. Bar is located in a lobby type section which makes preshow a little tight but logistically it is the only spot to use. Staff is great and super helpful. Great... More

First, let me say there is not a bad seat in the house. This is an old, very charming theater. I went to see the Tao Seventeen Samurai drummers on a Friday evening. What an incredible show and the perfect venue for it. the Theater has a bar and coat check, which was handy as it was a snowy evening... More
