My husband, who had been to New England in the 70's, but in the summer, planned this wonderful trip for us. We were treated to Mel Tye and his most hospitable, flexible and knowledgeable tour company. In fact, we were fortunate enough to be guided by Mel himself for seven days of our 10-day tour. What a treat. We learned so much, experienced so much and felt quite at home with Mel, Sue and Shannon. Everything was to our liking and expectation. In fact, accommodations were made for bad weather and WE got to decide how to handle it. Wonderful customer service. We highly recommend using Tye's Top Tour & Travel. Carla & Ray

I unfortunately suffered a medical crisis while on an tour in the SC/GA area and was hospitalized in the middle of my 2 state trip while my had to continue on. Mel was able to secure a hotel room that I needed the night I got out of the hospital and transportation to the airport the next day. Upon my arrival home Mel was instrumental in making a claim with the travel insurance I had purchased!

We joined a small group and enjoyed a lovely Brunch at SIP Wine Bar and Kitchen in Boston just steps from the Opera House where we had excellent Orchestra seats to witness the the award winning musical "Hamilton." The show follows the remarkable life story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Its creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, retells the tale using rap music and lyrics that tackle even political deal-making. Mel Tye was an excellent host providing a guided tour of Boston as well as exceptional customer service. Of course, we will always remember the musical theater event but most memorable was the hospitality and care to every detail that made our trip with Tye's Tours one we will always treasure. If you have not experienced the first class treatment in travel with Tye' Top Tour and Travel you are missing out. Sure, we could have purchased tickets on our own, searched for a parking spot and fought the crowds for hurried lunch, instead, we enjoyed a stress free leisurely theater trip with Mel...priceless. Thank you Mel Tye!

I would have given the tour 5 stars but our tour driver, Johnny of Tye Tours, allowed our tour van to run out of gas and left 9 of us stranded on the highway while he walked for gas. Although Johnny was really a very nice guy and knowledgeable of all things New England, that transgression just can not be overlooked.

When booking this tour through Viator, one of the first things stated under “highlights” is “Enjoy the personal experience of a small group tour,” except this wasn’t the small group tour we thought we were getting. The first day, our small group of eight people was put on a full size motor coach with 22 deaf people, two interpreters, a tour guide, and a bus driver. Our problem with that is that we wanted and thought we were getting a small group for ease of travel. So much time was wasted loading and unloading the bus, feeding everyone at mealtimes, and waiting for everyone to re-join the group at stops. Also, with this group there were several people who weren’t in the best of health, had special needs, were elderly, or just couldn’t get around well. Sadly, on the first day of travel, one sweet lady’s tour ended when she became seriously ill and had to be rushed to the hospital where she died a couple of days later. Of course, we were all distressed by this, especially her dear, sweet friends with whom she was traveling. The tour continued with 3 different tour guides over the remainder of the trip and a couple of days without any tour guide. The trip by Tye’s Tours was so disorganized that tour guides sometimes didn’t know where we were going, what we were doing, how to get to some places, which meals were included, etc. Also, each day too much time was spent on the bus. From our so-called “central” location, we drove hours each way to get to our destinations, and spent time either driving out of the way to pick up “day-trippers” who would join us just for that day or waiting for them to arrive to join us. This tour was sold as a fall foliage tour, but that was the focus of our trip on only one day in New Hampshire when the bus stopped to allow us to take pictures of the leaves. The other days, we just drove past the leaves in the bus, producing blurry bus window views and pictures-the bus was just too big to pull over to the side of the road or park in a space. Needless to say, this trip was not the trip we planned, and we were disappointed. Positives were the food was usually good, accommodations were fine, and we enjoyed some parts of the tour-the two New Hampshire trips, Newport, RI, Nantucket, whale watching were all fun. It was also nice to get to know the other people on the tour, all of whom were very nice people. Under different circumstances, we would have enjoyed our trip. But because of the misleading information and poor organization, we would never book again this tour or any other tour by Tye’s Tours.
