About
Hermit Woods Winery & Eatery, USA Today's Reader's Pick for America's fourth best tasting room, is a small boutique winery, cidery, meadery, and Eatery in downtown Meredith NH. We craft a wide variety of wines from local fruit (organic when possible) and raw honey in a classic European style. When you join us for a tasting, we do our best to make your time with us both enjoyable and educational. We will share tour knowledge about the wine and the wine-making process.
We also have a farm-to-table eatery offering a light menu and beer and wine by the glass. Enjoy some food and wine inside or on our outside deck or patio.
We now offer live music on Thu - Sat. You can enjoy our Listening Room Series every Thursday, a ticketed event, and hear performances on our concert grand piano from 6:00 to 9:00 on Fri & Sat.
We hope to see you in our tasting room soon. Note: If you use a wheelchair, please call ahead

This is a nice little winery and a fun experience. We bought a single tasting of a cider and 6 choices of wine for $16 to share, which in our opinion was a bit pricey. Had we read the description of the wines ahead of time we may have passed. They were fruit wines from blueberries, raspberries, elderberries, crabapple, kiwi, etc. We prefer traditional wines but we went ahead with the tasting. The cider was very tart and the first four wines were just not our style at all. The fifth wine, Hermitage, was the best, most like a grape wine. Elise, our pourer, threw in a taste of one of the rose wines that I had asked about, and it was really nice and refreshing. The last one we chose was a blueberry dessert wine, which we liked quite a bit, especially when we tried it with the chocolate we were offered.
One thing that would have improved the experience is if we had been given equal attention from the beginning. There was another group of two women who were in the middle of a tasting when we arrived. Since they had already built up some rapport with Elise, she had a tendency to pour us a taste then go right back to the other people and chat it up. We'd wait awhile for the next taste then she'd come back and pour and go back. After they left, we had her full attention and the rest of the tasting was pleasant.

We were on vacation with another couple. Walking around we decided to stop and have a glass of wine and check out the place. We were handed a clipboard that stated that they pay their staff $17 an hour while most other waitresses get only about $3.50 hr and rely on tips. To help pay for the $17, there will be a 15% charge on your bill. Also they encourage you to leave more . It was a big turn off for our friends. They had nothing. We ordered a $9 glass of wine . They went higher also. We are not wine snobs but like to have a reasonable priced wine with a decent pour. Ours looked like it was part of the wine flight. We left an additional tip only because the waitress was friendly and held a conversation with us. We won't be back. Had a very decent wine and pour at Hart's restaurant for $8.

I went to Hermit Woods to buy a few bottles of wine to take home on my yearly trip back East, as I’ve heard great things about the Winery. Jessica in the tasting room was so helpful and welcoming. I don’t know a whole lot about wine but she made me feel so comfortable with her knowledge and great recommendations. Jessica helped me pick wines based on my needs and was even able to ship everything home for me. It was so easy and I’m so excited to try all the verities of wines when I get home. I did try the heirloom crabapple and it was spectacular. The winery atmosphere is so open and light, the deli smelled amazing and the deck outside looks perfect to sit at. It really is a must try if your in the Lakes Region. I’ll definitely be going back on my next trip!
Thanks Jessica :).

The modified tasting is 3 2oz pours for 11.95. There are 12 to choose from. They also sell charcuterie plates and items. We enjoyed the Vermont Brie ($9.99) with our tasting and it was fantastic. Very nice staff.

This is not my first visit but a repeat customer who likes to bring friends whenever I can to sample fruit wines and learns out the winery. Don’t be put off as these are not the fruit wines of decades ago 😀 The presentation by Bob was informative & charming, while we sipped on 6 wines (1 of which was mulled—a treat)! We then had a scrumptious lunch. Recommend this highly if in the Lakes Region

We study wines from various global wine regions, and specifically visited Hermit Woods to learn more about fruit wines, particularly their blueberry wines. This was our first experience with NH fruit wines and we were impressed with our two wine flights! Our meeting with Ben, one of the winemakers, was informative and enjoyable. The lunch was delicious, and the staff attentive and gracious.

I attended a concert on a Thursday night in the upstairs Loft at Hermit Woods. It was an extraordinary jazz trio (Laszlo Gardony, Avery Sharpe, Yoron Israel) in an extraordinary venue. A true listening room experience. The french onion soup was phenomenal.

What a fantastic place and the staff and owners bring it to a top-knotch level. I’m a wine club member and it’s truly like a small family over the years. I once scoffed over fruit wines but this is NOT your grandma’s Gallo! They make phenomenal wines and until you try them, you won’t believe it! They are Alchemists and have such fun and kind devotion to their business that has grown in very good ways over the years. They have improved the Meredith community and given back in huge ways. They truly care about the customers and go above and beyond to make your experience there one you won’t forget. Great food! Local sourcing! They have survived the challenges and supply chain issues and staffing woes. My favorite venue!

My friend and I stumbled upon Hermit Woods Winery after a day of hiking Mount Major. The winery itself is very cute and has nice outdoor seating. You can order wine flights with 3 wines a piece. We didn’t like two of the wines we tried, but the third (the rose) was pretty good. We both got the chicken salad sandwich, which was a little dry. The staff was very friendly and it was overall a pleasant experience.

We stopped in at Hermit Woods after doing some ice skating and walking around downtown Meredith. While our kiddos were enjoying one of the yummy sandwich offerings; my husband and I tried out the wine tasting. It was fun to try wines made from a variety of (local) fruits. The staff was great, although they were a little short handed (possibly because it was winter(?); and the place itself has a nice bright/airy ambience. I would recommend stopping in if you are in the downtown Meredith area.
