About
Hermit Woods Winery and Deli, one of Food & Wine Magazine's "500 Best Wineries in America" in 2017, is a small boutique winery, cidery, meadery and deli located in downtown Meredith NH. We make a wide variety of wines from local fruit (organic when possible) and raw honey in a classic European style. When you join us for a tasting, in addition to sharing our wines with you, we will do our best to make your time with us both enjoyable and educational. The people who make the wine will be serving you and will share their knowledge about the wine and the wine making process. We also have a deli where we offer a light menu and beer and wine by the glass. Enjoy some food and wine inside or on our deck. We hope to see you in our tasting room soon. Note: If you use a wheelchair, please call ahead

Buy a membership right off. Make a day of it. We did the wine cellar tour with the winemaker. You could obviously not get a more informed guide. Ask if Ken is available. We did the tasting with Bob who was fun and shared great stories. We took the opportunity to go for a mile or so walk to see the beautiful sculptures throughout town, as Bob advised. Upon our return, we had a nice dinner of panini sandwiches from the deli on the ground floor served to us with a selection of wines in a beautiful piano lounge upstairs. As new members, we took every opportunity for our discouts and left with a selection of wonderful, dry wiines. Our favorite is The Red Scare, a wine not to be missed. We joined the wine club and received a small book about the recently released offerings. We plan to go back quarterly.

Not your typical grape wines
Sep 2021
This is a nice little winery and a fun experience. We bought a single tasting of a cider and 6 choices of wine for $16 to share, which in our opinion was a bit pricey. Had we read the description of the wines ahead of time we may have passed. They were fruit wines from blueberries, raspberries, elderberries, crabapple, kiwi, etc. We prefer traditional wines but we went ahead with the tasting. The cider was very tart and the first four wines were just not our style at all. The fifth wine, Hermitage, was the best, most like a grape wine. Elise, our pourer, threw in a taste of one of the rose wines that I had asked about, and it was really nice and refreshing. The last one we chose was a blueberry dessert wine, which we liked quite a bit, especially when we tried it with the chocolate we were offered.

One thing that would have improved the experience is if we had been given equal attention from the beginning. There was another group of two women who were in the middle of a tasting when we arrived. Since they had already built up some rapport with Elise, she had a tendency to pour us a taste then go right back to the other people and chat it up. We'd wait awhile for the next taste then she'd come back and pour and go back. After they left, we had her full attention and the rest of the tasting was pleasant.

Deli visit and Loft tasting
Aug 2021 • Friends
We had a great time here yesterday. I do think the deli is a bit pricey, and the cheese & charcuterie boards a bit pricey for what you get. Also the woman at the deli was on her phone playing when I was waiting to order and took her a few to acknowledge me to which was only a smile and she wasn't overly friendly.
However we did the hour loft tasting which was fantastic. Bob is amazing and refreshing to see someone who has so much passion for this. We got a list of wines and it did say to pick 6 to taste (like a normal tasting) and that's NOT the case for this type of more expensive tasting. You don't get to choose anything. They do it for you (you actually taste 7) and its paired with the video and slideshow presentation from Bob, one of the owners. The girl who served the wine while he was talking DID let me taste 2 of the ones I had been hoping to taste after we went downstairs. I spent far too much money and regret nothing. Lol. We had fun!

Great little downtown locale not far from the water so a great stop in that regards. Wine was ok. Honestly overpriced imo and staff not as friendly or welcoming as other locales in area.

Not what you would expect
Jun 2021
The wines here are unique in that they do not use grapes. Their wines are made from raspberries, blueberries, apples, cranberry, strawberry and rhubarb.
We tasted 6 different wines. They were tasty but not what you might expect if you were looking for good wines.
We enjoyed the flight but not sure we could drink a glass of any of them.

The fig pizza was delicious

Thoroughly enjoyable experience! The wine was lovely but even better was the level of customer service. Everyone I encountered here was friendly and personable. Come visit!

Great place for food and wine

On a way to Lincoln, NH, found this winery with food. Great food and great wine, great place for a nice glass of wine and relax. They do wine tasting, wine flights or you can order a glass of wine with some food. Perfect place.

Good line up of wine and deli

The modified tasting is 3 2oz pours for 11.95. There are 12 to choose from. They also sell charcuterie plates and items. We enjoyed the Vermont Brie ($9.99) with our tasting and it was fantastic. Very nice staff.
