Good but not Great
Jul 2021 • Couples
Very clean and comfortable new theater. Very utilitarian, nothing especially dramatic about it. Gravel parking lot. The play we saw was okay. I suppose it was worth doing but wasn’t really blown away by it.

Cinderella
Aug 2019
Went to see the production of Cinderella this August. Very good, animated cast, some very creative effects for a small playhouse. I think this is a wonderful place, When we went it was a Thursday. I think anyone would enjoy these productions, but especially families. Make a point to stop here one night while you take a break from hiking!

Titantic, The Musical
Jul 2019
Vacationed in Lincoln a few days ago and went to the opening night of Titantic, The Musical. Great show in terms of songs/voices and small orchestra per my wife and myself. Comfortable seating and good sound for a small theater. Every seat is a good seat. Very reasonable ticket prices. Don't go by the number of tickets sold on line. Many more enjoyed the show than tickets sold as of a couple days before the show. Go and Enjoy!

A wonderful evening
Aug 2018 • Friends
I went with friends, while on vacation in New Hampshire, to attend a performance of "Seussical, the Musical" at this quite amazing theatre. It was a wonderful experience to see this show performed by such a professional cast. The whole experience was wonderful. The seating arrangement is outstanding and there is really not a bad seat in the house. I would definitely return there on my next trip to the area. Without question!!!!

Seussical, Wow
Aug 2018 • Family
We attended Seussical at Jean's Playhouse while on vacation in New Hampshire. To say we were impressed would be an understatement. The choreography and harmonies were great, the dancing was fantastic, and the energy of the actors was super. It was a great production for all ages. We were also impressed by the theatre itself. We weren't sure what to expect for a small town but the seats were comfortable and roomy and the theater itself seems fairly new. The only downfall of the experience was that the house was not full. These performers deserve to play to a full, appreciative house.

Putnam County Spelling Bee
Jul 2018 • Couples
This was a fabulous, funny, engaging performance! The young actors were superb. So looking forward to sharing their energy and talents in the upcoming performance of Beauty and the Beast. It helps that Jean's Playhouse (formerly Paper Mill Theater) is so spacious with very comfortable seating and provides immediate interaction with the performers.

Politics over fun
Jul 2018 • Family
In an era when divisive politics permeates so much of our lives, I seek opportunities like the theater to avoid the divisiveness that is out there. It's a chance for everyone to set aside their differences and to be entertained.

The Putnam County Spelling Bee is supposed to be all about having fun. It's a light comedy, after all. But no... Jeans Playhouse inserted several political jabs that were gratuitous at best. Even though I may have agreed with what was said, this was gauche. I spent a lot of money to have an escape. Thanks for ruining that opportunity, Jeans Playhouse. You could have brought people together but instead you reinforced what drives them apart.

We're sorry that your experience was one of disappointment, because most audiences thoroughly enjoyed the humor, pathos, and music of this look at a slice of time when losers turn out to be the winners. Jean's did not arbitrarily insert political jabs; in fact, the authors of the script have allowed/planned for several places where it is expected the producers will use updated/contemporary references to issues/headlines.

Ruined a good play with politics.
Jul 2018 • Family
Saw The 25 Annual Putnam Spelling B play and was very disappointed. Halfway through, politics was brought into it. I take my family to a play to have some release from stress, work, and the current political climate. Why ruin a great play ? I found it to be a sophomoric display of selfishness.

'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' does not bring politics to the fore, but the authors have written in several places where current event/headline issues are meant to be updated as a way of looking at them within the humor of this very popular musical. We're sorry that the you were disappointed by what remains a very popular production nationally and around the globe.
