Yeah, I know, it's quite something to say my favorite spot *on earth*, but it is. My family is from near here, I grew up about 50 miles away, and I never knew this existed until a few years ago. Now, when I visit the area, I walk here nearly every day. The walk from the Airport Road parking lot... More

A very nice/easy walk! I love taking my dogs down this and sitting out on the deck next to Pondicherry! Beautiful walk...absolutely love it!

always a great place to bird and walk in nature (and hunting season did not affect it.) Just gorgeous any time of year.

Brought my 20-yr old nephew along with me for my second visit to Pondicherry Wildlife Reserve and he was as impressed as I. It was even better than in the fall. We saw wildlife including different types of ducks and bear. I was happy that we found the second pond which my husband did not care to do when we... More

A 1.5 mile flat walk (3 mi. RT) into Pondicherry NWR brings you through great birding habitats to Cherry Pond. Walk a bit further to Little Cherry Pond through boreal forest for possible sightings of black-backed woodpeckers, spruce grouse, and boreal chickadees. The main entrance is on Hazen Road, off Route 115 in Jefferson. A shorter, handicap-accessible trail off Route... More

Our minister mentioned this is one of the places that he and some friends visit often because of it's beauty, well maintained easy walking trails and quietness! Many of our neighbors have been drawn here because it is off the beaten path and really love it. I have heard the phrase "nature at it's best" nestled right here in Jefferson... More

Well maintained easy to walk trails. Quiet place except for the many birds but they were welcome sounds. Great bird watching area. Managed to plan our trip right around peak foilage and it was gorgeous. There are mountain views from the ponds that would be splendid anytime of year. Already planning to go back in the spring.

We walked here, hoping to see lots of birds. We did not succeed, but we did hear the fabulous grouse which makes the incredible thumping sound with its wings!

Nice trails, some traditional wood trails, others rail trails. Lots of wildlife sign in the snow. Quiet, no street noise. The Cherry Ponds are lovely with scenic background of the mountains. We walked for 3 hours and only saw a small portion of the preserve. We entered at the parking area on Hazen Drive, just east of the airport. The... More
