About Northeast Fly Fishing School
In the Northeast Fly Fishing School you will not only learn how to fly cast, but where and when to cast. You will learn how to identify what trout eat, how to select flies that match trout food and how to present the fly in a natural way on a trout stream, not just a casting pond. We teach you how to "read the water" and learn where trout hold in a stream, how to approach them and how to cast to where they will eat your fly. In the classroom, at the casting pond and on a local stream - you will get personal fly fishing instruction and not be in a large class. We give you personal attention that quickly lets you be effective. Don't be "short-changed" by schools that are only a few hours or a day-long. You receive a full day of classroom and casting instruction AND a half-day on-the-river fishing instruction. Your instructors are licensed, insured fly fishing guides with years of experience. In addition to the fly fishing school, they are available for personal guided fly fishing trips in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Gerry is a very patient and skilled instructor. My cast went from intermdiate to hitting my target almost every time. You can tell Gerry carefully picks areas to focus on instead of pushing everything you do wrong. A memorable day starting at a mountain trout pond working my cast and then hunting the rocks and eddy's in several beautiful rivers. An amazing day advancing my skills and enjoying the White Mountains.

We had a fantastic experience with Dave and the Northeast fly fishing school. Dave was extremely knowledgeable and helped us with all of the fundamentals to get going with fly fishing. We really enjoyed the entire experience and could not have been happier with the day!

I had a great experience at the all day fly fishing school for beginners. It was a small group of students with Dave and Dan as the instructors. It was a really positive environment and Dave and Dan did a great job of balancing 1 on 1 feedback with allowing you to mess around on your own to get the hang of it. They always had really helpful tips when something wasn’t clicking for me. This class was a great jumping off point to the world of fly fishing. By the end of the day, they will get you casting and fishing. I highly recommend this to someone who is new to fly fishing and wants to get started with some high quality instruction that makes the sport more approachable.

For years I dabbled with fly fishing, never really learning how to cast, read water or study bugs. I finally decided it was time to learn for real. Dave and Dan, at the Northeast Fly Fishing School, were excellent at teaching the basics, coaching us novices, and throwing in some tips and tricks to help us learn the sport of Fly Fishing. I couldn't have picked a better class, so happy for their help and guidance!

Gerry was a fantastic guide for a family of four novices. Two teenage boys. We loved it! He was patient. Taught us about the environment and surrounding region. Took COVID precautions. Wiped everything down. We all wore masks. I've been coming to this part of NH for decades, and never did this before. What a cool new way to see the region and learn a new skill.
