We visited the campus this morning on our tour of New England. After seeing the 1902 Hanover Inn and learning about its tumultuous history, we crossed the large Commons to visit the 1928-2002 Baker-Berry Library. It was open to students but not to us visitors so we will miss the 1934 murals by Jose Clemente Orozco and the 3rd floor reading room.
It is really a beautiful campus with all the stately building and green everywhere, but the winters?

We have been blessed to get to see several of the Ivy League schools, and Dartmouth is my fav. It is a beautiful campus. The buildings we saw were beautiful outside and well maintained on the inside. Some of the other Ivy's don't look as impressive on the inside as the outside. ;)

Dartmouth is a wonderful college to visit and Hanover is a charming New England town. Just wandering around campus and relying on serendipity will lead you someplace wonderful. If you need a destination, try Baker Library and the Orozco murals and Dr. Seuss room. Hopkins Center is often interesting. as is the riverside (near the boathouse) and the area around the specialized schools (Tuck and Thayer). Just wandering on the green can be a treat. The town is lovely, too, with fun restaurantsa and lots of artsy and fashionista stores.

If you like thought control and one-sided political extremism this is your place. Conservatives are not welcome.

A good school got to be able to satisfy its faculty with parking, its students with easy sex, and its coach with money. Dartmouth does well with the first two, especially after becoming co-ed since Title 9. But Dartmouth needs do better in sports, either in traditional ones, or in innovative new sports or new ways to do it...

I was visiting in the area and decided to check out the Campus at Dartmouth. It is a beautiful old campus with a number of old buildings. It is well maintained and is a great place to walk around and enjoy a nice day.

Love the Dart! Beautiful surroundings and very walkable. Anyone who goes to school here is incredibly fortunate.

The college has grown enormously in the past fifty years. It is an attractive campus, with many fine architectural buildings. Strictly speaking, it really should be called a university with the following professional schools: Geisel Medical School (dating back to 1797), Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business Administration. In addition, there are master's and Ph.D. programs in many fields, such as the Biological Sciences. The heart of the campus is said to be the library, but my favorite building is Dartmouth Hall (1784). It is exceptionally beautiful at night, when it is floodlit, especially when snow is thickly on the ground. There is a newly renovated stadium, an ice-skating rink, and an athletics complex with indoor tracks and two swimming pools, but the real plus are the arts facilities, including the Hopkins Center; the recently built Black Family Visual Arts Center; the Hood Art Museum, which is currently undergoing major renovations just now; and the Orozco frescoes in the Baker-Berry Library. For more information about this Ivy-League College, join a tour or take the virtual tour on the Dartmouth College's own website.
