A community gathering place -with lots of books!

Attentive and knowledgeable library staff are always there to help. Lots of nooks and crannies for quiet should you desire or public spaces for all ages. Nice vibe that is not pretentious. All are welcome.

Outstanding small public library
Mar 2018 • Friends
To begin, this library is housed in a comfortably stunning building, designed by Shepley, Bullfinch, Richardson, and Young – America's premier architects of libraries. Considering the size of the town it serves, it contains an unusually comprehensive collection; and it frequently has interesting visual exhibits as well as public presentations on many different subjects. When you're in Hanover stop by to see just how wonderful a small community's library can be.

Small public library but with all you need specially in the children section

Howe public library is, as many other things in Hanover, small, cozy and functional. It has all you need in a local public library and has a particularly good children section.

Wow, this was an amazing library to have had growing up. It's been renovated since then, and is still fabulous. I remember a long fish tank with a painted turtle, lots of Eyewitness VHSes, and a great selection of pictures books, teen books, etc. As an adult, I find their fantasy/sci-fi section could be a bit larger, but otherwise in general they have a good selection, especially in mysteries I am told as I don't personally enjoy those but I know people who say the selection is prime. I enjoy the changing display cases with art and stories (especially the painted eggs), snack area, and art prints you can check out which is super unique and something I haven't seen offered anywhere else.

Small Library that offers a lot!
Jan 2018 • Family
This is a great small library. They have more than books. There are study rooms that can fit 1-4 people you can sign up for free , a small snack/cafe area, and cozy fire place room. When our kids were younger there were story times and play times that they met other preK kids. They have great events - we heard a talk on Birding in Cuba last year. We attended a kids Halloween costume swap and got some great costumes another year. They have days in which they offer 'technical help' for computers/ iPads etc. In addtion to checking out books, CDs, and movies, they have other things like museum passes, VCR digital converting kit, birding kit, a ukulele, and electricity usage kit (and more) that you can check out. They also have digital books you can sign out. It is a small Library that offers a lot.

Great place to pop into for some history and see what cultural events are going on

Stopped in the library as I love libraries. There is a nice coffee /drink spot to your immediate right. There is a community board where local organizations post all activities that are happening and other information that may prove helpful. There are books for free/low cost if you are interested. There are many historical photos and/or art on walls. Go into the back room that is filled with historical information about Hanover, NH and surrounding areas and a large stone fireplace. Lots of cozy seats. Great spot to stay an hour or so.
