Who can resist a stop at an oceanfront beach to sit and chill on the white sandy beach!!
Who can resist a stop at an oceanfront beach? It was a sunny and warm day, but breezy and cooler down by the water. Still we had to take time out of our day in the midst of a New England roadtrip to sit and chill on the white sandy beach, listening to the waves crash to shore. It was lovely! Hardly any people on the beach, and only a couple of young people actually in the water. We had driven in on Ocean Boulevard from the south to get the full effect of this coastal community. Plenty of parking at reasonable rates on the boulevard (there are parking lots within a block or two). Didn't stop in any of the shops as they looked worn and creepy; hopefully they will spruce it up for the summer season!!

    Nice place to visit.
Stopped in on a rainy/gloomy day on the way up to Maine. It was a nice time despite the weather. Lots of cute little gift shops. Fried dough is a must. Wish there were more restaurants to choose from, but a great place to see.

    Favorite Beach
The water is so clean and beautiful with very little seaweed or rocks. Definitely need to arrive by 10 in order to find parking. We brought our EZ-up and stayed all day. Wish they had bathrooms ar the far end of the beach but otherwise wouldn't change a thing.

    Awesome Beach
A beautiful clean white sand gem along the Atlantic Seacoast. Excellent bathroom facilities, benches and an amazing Band Stand with nightly entertainment. The town is a throwback to the 50's with shops, fudge and bars.

I pre-registered for parking at Hampton Beach State Park. I fully expected that the number of beachgoers would be down due to the state having restrictions on the number of people allowed because of the coronavirus. I was surprised and dismayed to find out how very crowded the beach was allowed to be. I saw no evidence of State Park personnel patrolling or assisting in keeping people separated. And this was on a Thursday, I can only imagine how much more crowded it will be over the weekend. I would advise that if you are at all concerned with being in a crowd of people even though you are outside that you should avoid Hampton Beach State Park.

I've been going to Hampton Beach for 30 years, In that time I have had some really great memories. It's too bad that the current leadership of the place has decided that money is the most important thing in the universe. In 2020 they shut down all of the free parking areas so you had to pay prices that were raised double of the rest of the time. Also, 45 Seconds after I paid $10 for a timed parking space the parks ticket giver decided to put a ticket on my vehicle for not having their parking ticket. Even though it was on the dash easy to read. It was so close to when I put it there he had to of watched me buy it. For 2021 they've decided that only locals can park in areas that don't charge you. That way they can milk every last dime out of the tourists that grace the tourist trap that it has become. I used to bring my family up for a week every summer, (And quite a few weekends in between) now I am looking for new places to visit.

We tried to go see the sand sculptures, what a joke, the traffic was backed up for an hour, the parking was non existing unless you wanted to pay 20 dollars. The entire area was jammed with people and groups of young adults that, quit frankly, were a little scary. There was reported gang activity and I just didn't feel comfortable getting out of my car. To me this is not a family oriented area, its a party spot with alot of drunks. We will never go back.

The park area itself is fairly well kept. The beach at night was littered but by morning it looked like it had been raked. We rented a room in the area so we didn’t have to deal with parking. Because of covid, some parking and “the strip” have been blocked off. The sidewalks outside of the state park area are in rough shape so if you have a stroller/wheelchair or don’t get around easily, it’s best to avoid all together or stay within the park area. Most of the time on the beach we could smell marijuana (day and night) even though we saw the patrol several times. Maybe it’s legal?

After driving through town, we decided to visit Hampton Beach South National Park because it was way less crowded. Reserve your parking online at nhstateparks.org for all day (8am-8pm). It's $15/day plus a $1 processing fee. But at least you are guaranteed a spot. Parking at the other beaches was a nightmare.

Bathrooms were open but showers were not because of the Covid restrictions.

Very nice, family friendly, less crowded beach option in Hampton.

After spending the last 12 years going to the beach in Maine (recently sold our summer home) we now have the opportunity to try new beaches around New England. It has been many many years since we went to Hampton Beach. We decided to take a day trip and went to the southern part of the beach. We were able to reserve parking online on the NH State Parks site. This was a new part of the beach for my wife and I. We were pleasantly surprised how nice the beach was, but was very crowded. There are restroom facilities, showers (they were closed still) and a store. Facilities were OK from a cleanliness perspective but could have been better. We arrived early afternoon and the beach was packed. We were able to squeeze into a spot for the afternoon. Water was on the cold side (not surprising for NH) but clear. Suggest getting there early to get a good spot. Lots of kids on the day we went! We spent the afternoon enjoying the weather and then left for an early dinner.

I have been to Hampton Beach State Park many times. The shore is absolutely beautiful. It offers lots of shore area, breathtaking views. Hampton also has a boardwalk of shops/vendors, so it is also fun to walk around, go to shops, grab something to eat. During the Summer many people flock to Hampton, so expect it to be crowded. In the winter, on the other hand, the beach is vacant, you can have it to yourself really, just dress warm because that ocean breeze makes it very breezy and cold in winter. It is a beautiful place to visit ANY time of year.

I thought I would give Hampton Beach State Park another chance because they are one of two beaches you can reserve a parking spot. I will never go back again. Not only is the traffic to get to the state park ridiculous, but they have way too many parking spots available which means a crowded beach. We had people set up right next to us, no interest in keeping a 6 foot separation and no one cared or did anything about the obvious overcrowding. The place was full of MA plates and I’m sure the COVID-19 was flowing. You can have my spot at this beach I guarantee I will never return. Absolutely horrible start to finish.

Great family experience! We found the visitors to be socially responsible regarding distancing on the beach and the shops/restaurants.

State limited parking to 50% of capacity which helped and we had no problem finding parking. Granted we did go on a week day not a week end.

We did find some shops to be closed.
