Sunday Coach ride up with Hans. 1/17. Cloudy, winds, 63 mph @ 4200’ Six of us had a great ride, Hans was knowledgeable with a bit of Auto Road Blarney. With skiing limited and snowmobile trails not as yet opened, this was a great alternative activity and well worth the trip. Great photos. Recommend.

I did this drive by myself, the ride up was fine, the higher you go the more narrow the road becomes and then at one point the road is not paved and the road also becomes more steep. There really should be signs along the way stating what the incline and decline is, this way you can always pull over at one of the lookout points and decide if you want to continue or turn around. I was terrified to come down, it was really scary, coming down is when you realize how high and steep the road is. There is a number you can call if you need help to come down, someone will come and drive your car down and there is a charge for that - $40 and good luck if your phone has a signal. The views are amazing and remember it is very chilly at the summit.

Went up to the summit with Hans behind the wheel. Right from the start Hans gave us not just a mere guided tour, but an experience! His knowledge of not only the road itself, but the history of the mountain, it's geology and weather, it's flora, and the events held there made this trip a wonderful learning experience, while his personality and sense of humor puts you at ease, and ensures you will have a lot of fun! We'll be returning in the spring to see the alpine flowers in bloom!

I was very close to not riding up the auto road with my fiancé. I’m very afraid/anxious/terrified of heights and have had panic attacks in similar situations and I was FINE. I surprised myself to be honest. Yes, there are pieces that are very nerve wracking BUT here are some things that helped me along the way. 1. I didn’t drive, I was in the passenger seat. 2. At the check-in booth they give you a information packet that includes a link you can access on your phone and listen to an informative story about the mountain as you ascend (it was really interesting and I put my attention on the story as we drove). 3. Keep your gaze at the horizon and forward (you can still see the beautiful terrain but it helps you to avoid looking directly down at the side of the ledge). 4. The roads are wide enough for two cars just fine. 5. I saw comments people wrote before I went and a few people said once they hit the gravel road they turned around because it freaked them out (at that point you’re honestly so close and it’s so worth it to keep going). 6. GO EARLY!!! We arrived a little after they opened at 8am. There were no cars behind us so we didn’t feel rushed and took our time. Also, there were barely any cars coming down so we felt like we had plenty of room on the road. 7. Breathe. It took us around 20 minutes to ride to the top, I saw a lot of posts saying it took around 30 mins (I’m sure this depends on traffic but it was quick for us). 8. Once you get to the top you feel relieved and going down is NOT bad at all! You can actually keep your camera out and take pictures all the way down (the photos you missed on the way up because you may focus on other things and not look). Don’t miss this. You’ll be so happy you went :). Enjoy!

We did the tour the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend. We had great weather. It was not that windy on top of the mountain which was great. It was cold so prepare to be a lot colder than base. Check weather before you go. We did not drive as we took the tour offered. it was $ 40 /person which was well worth it. We had a great and informative guide. ( Thank you Barney ) and I did not have to drive and could admire the views. We had an hour at the summit to enjoy the view. It was a great tour. if you want a less stressful way to the top, then I highly recommend
