- Richard N1 contributionGreat half day kayak tourWe went on the half day kayak tour and it was really fantastic. Our guide, Clark, was wonderful - knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant, extremely capable. The kayaking went at a very pleasant pace and the river is beautiful and peaceful. While we didn't see much wildlife on this trip, would definitely go back and experience this beautiful place again with such nice people.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 8, 2023

Our tour guide, Ron, was awesome. Very entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable. After the tour we did snow tubing which was lots of fun. We will be back!Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 25, 2023
- Connie MWindsor, Vermont8 contributionsA Winter Adventure Unlike Any OtherMy snowcoach experience was outstanding! We got a taste of Mt. Washington's wild winter weather both from the warmth and comfort of the snowcoach and from a brief walkabout at 4200' with the wind raging and the snow blowing. It was awesome! Plus, our guide Matt was a wealth of knowledge that he shared with enthusiasm and in a way that we could easily understand. Fun, educational and unique. I highly recommend this amazing experience.Visited January 2024Written January 13, 2024
- Megan P1 contributionSemi-private and XC ski dayThis was our third trip to Great Glen. We went twice for biking over the summer and then were invited by friends for a day of xc skiing. We are beginner xc skiers so opted for a lesson before joining our friends. From checking in, getting sized, to the lesson, the staff was warm, welcoming and ready to assist. The lesson was just what we needed to make us comfortable on the skis and trails. The trails were in fantastic condition despite the slow start to the winter season here in the northeast. We are excited to go back and are looking forward what is hopefully a long season.Visited January 2024Traveled with friendsWritten January 15, 2024

The guide Marc was so knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned some remarkable facts about the area and had a great time. - Amelia K1 contributionMount Washington SnowCoach TourWe had an amazing winter tour up the Mount Washington Auto road in The Snowcoach. The weather was very cold (under 10 degrees) but the coach was warm and cozy. You do have time at the top part to get out and explore for a bit. Blue skies with spectacular views of the snow covered Presidential range. Our driver Pete was chatty, knowledgeable and had some fun anecdotes. We were lucky that we had such a clear day. Highly recommend.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 23, 2024
- Chris3 contributionsOne of the best XC ski spots in NHBeen coming for many years. They have a nice lodge, good lessons, and due to their location usually some of the best snow around. The trails are nice and wide as well. Prices are all reasonable. You can eat in their hotel that is on the trails, though I wish they had a faster cafe option in the lodge (but they do have an area in their lodge you can eat your own lunch you bring yourself).Visited January 2024Written January 23, 2024
- RussWestminster, Massachusetts4 contributionsA new way up the mountainWhat a great way to see Mt. Washington and its surrounds! We have ascended Washington a number of times, but not by snow coach in January. The trip did not disappoint! Bruce is a wealth of knowledge and a friendly guide. Kim and I agree: this trip is worth repeating!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 24, 2024
- aa98762024Center Tuftonboro, New Hampshire1 contributionA “must do”This is a great trip for all ages, especially if you can grab a sunny day. Set aside all your doubts about being cold, being in danger, or not being able to get in a snowcat vehicle. It’s all taken care of and the guides are skilled a knowledgeable.Visited January 2024Written January 31, 2024

We booked a sunset kayak on Conway Lake, and it was the highlight of the trip. Out guide, Nate, was very professional and accommodating. He went out of his way to make sure we saw wildlife on the lake and that we were comfortable. We are already planning another kayak adventure for next year!

We could not be more pleased with Great Glen Trails Kayak excursion. We were a group of 7 (2 families with older teens) and all COVID protocols were followed, which made us feel very safe on this trip. Our tour guide, Patrick, was the perfect teacher for us, with his chill vibe and interesting stories! We saw bald eagles as well as heron. It was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. The 6 mile trip was not crowded at all, and everything was extremely professional. I would not hesitate to book another trip with them. Looking forward to the next adventure!

This is our second year in a row mountain biking at Great Glen Trails. They were able to accommodate us with appropriate rentals for our family including kids ages 7-16. And there are enough trails with varying skills levels to keep everyone happy. And speaking of happy...the staff are such kind, friendly and happy people. They’re patient, enthusiastic and encouraged us to try new types of bikes and trails. A nice lady working in the gift shop even gave us advice for our trip home which saved us time while providing a great scenic Drive. We had a blast - it was a highlight of our trip. Thank you!!

Great memories on the Androscoggin with Nate and company! Highly recommend this enjoyable paddle with a chance to swim (float really) in the pristine, clear waters. Crew loaded everything, arranged transport, offered supplies like water shoes, dry bags and offered great tips on enjoying the area. Would totally do this again, would like to experience in all seasons.

My Boys and I love coming here to snow tube. However, this last experience wasn't the best. The weather wasn't kind to the tubing hill so there was no tubing. There was no refund or change of reservations. I will say the only thing deserving of 5 stars was Roger. People were wet, cold and complaining but Roger made everyone smile and turned a bad situation into something positive. Great Glen you have an AMAZING employee.

Hi Travelingmom,
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback, both on conditions and on Roger. Glad you can tell how much he truly loves his job here in the winter! Sorry you didn't have a good time tubing. I'll share this feedback both with Roger and with management on how we can better serve our guests when the conditions on the tubing hill are not all that favorable. Again, thanks for your time to share your thoughts.

My husband and I took the Snow coach up the Mt. Washington Auto road on February 15 and we had a great time. Lauren was our driver and he was fun, professional and very full of facts about the area. The day was Picture Perfect! Really! The sky was blue and the wind was just right. WE were able to get out at the top of the trip (about 1/2 way up to the top) and the views were spectacular! Every direction was full of majestic mountain peaks with just enough snow on top! Back at the Center, the soup in the cafe was delicious and everyone there was either enjoying the view out the window, or getting ready for their adventure in the snow! So much too do, and at reasonable cost. We love the winter months but every season has it's own beauty and activities. Get out there and enjoy another adventure!

We took the snow coach trip on Saturday 2/15 which was a spectacularly clear day! Going to the the 4200' level of Mt Washington the weather is generally an issue on any given day of the year. We were lucky as it was perfectly clear and the wind was minimal at lt this level of the mountain. If you go choose a clear day! Our guide and driver was "Wink", great driver, friendly, funny and knowledgeable. He did a a great job getting us up and down the mountain explaining the history of Mt Washington. Fun to trip with family or friends!

Our family took the "track mobile" up Mount Washington in February 2020. The ride was a little bumpy at first but once we started driving on the snow things were much smoother. Great views from every stop and well worth it. You really do not know what COLD is until you reach the top of the mountain. Thank you for the experience.

My wife and I had an excursion up to the 4000' mark of Mt Washington. We left the base camp with a gentle light snow and 27 degrees. When we reached the 4000' turnaround, we had blizzard conditions with gusting winds. Our driver was a superb tractor driver, an ecology scientist, full of interesting information about the weather, history and science of Mt Washington. Don't miss this ride.

My daughter and I enjoyed cross country skiing on Great Glen trails on January 3-7, 2021. We stayed at Glen House and went on a trail right outside the hotel, which was oerfect! On January 7 we went up Mt. Washington in a Snow coach. Very impressed with how seriously staff of the center takes COVID safety. We felt very comfortable seeing that everyone was wearing masks and cleaning the common areas. The Snow coach driver Jen did a wonderful job making this 1.5 hours trip up and down the mountain an unforgettable experience.

Yes, but it will be a bit challenging. It all depends on the child. They may not be able to go very far. We do not have that sized rental snowshoes at the moment. Please feel free to call!

I was really looking forward to renting a bike at the outdoor center and checking out the trails.
I have been snowshoeing here before and had a blast!
I will be in NH from Oct 26th to the 29th. But the outdoor center closes on the 21st! Why is this?! Does anyone have any suggestions of similar places where I could rent a bike and enjoy easy to navigate trails?
Thanks for any feedback!
Written October 8, 2018
That time of year you are welcome to walk our trails but the bike rentals are shut down in order to prep the building for winter use.

Could the animal scavenger hunt be done on foot by kids? In other words how widespread are the stations where the kids get their stamps? We are planning a July visit and not all of the kids in our group like to bike.
Written July 8, 2016
Yes. Absolutely. The stations are spread out over the trail system; only on the carriage roads an not on the single track bike trails. They are very visible and fun to find. Walking is always free on the trails and if you are lucky you could see the live wildlife that call Great Glen home.
