This is one of my favorite drives because of the scenery, the restaurants (especially Polly's Pancakes), the little gift shops, the small country churches, and Harmon's Cheese! Great to do any time of year.

This corner of the White Mountains is the ideal place to explore this region. Great scenery, hiking, biking, swimming, food, etc. There is so much to do so here goes: Bike along the Franconia Bike trail. park at the bottom of the Notch, bike 9 miles uphill through the woods through the notch, circle Echo Lake and the reward the... We've returned to this area, staying at local B&Bs just about every fall for decades, at the beginning of October. The fall color in the nearby hardwood forests of the White Mountains and roadsides can be beyond spectacular at this time in the best years, but are never less than very good. The advantages to staying in Franconia, or up... More

Wildflower fields and the Lupine Festival for pretty much the month of June was a joy. Flowers were lovely, vistas fantastic, drives wonderful. We even saw a bear on one of the back roads. We stayed for a little over 2 weeks and enjoyed the whole time relaxing and taking pictures.

Beautiful Fall Drive and we were able to stop at a market to get smoked cheddar and crackers. Pretty drive and we didn't have to go far to find the fall colors.

Sugar Hill gives some of the best - if not *the best* - views of the White Mountains. Take a walk down Sunset Street - walk up and back (both directions) - and never grow tired of the views. The views not only vary with the seasons, but also with local weather conditions. A wonderful New Hampshire classic !

What an incredible view from Sugar Hill! Even on a cloudy day we could see for miles and miles and miles.

We had a personally guided tour of the Sugar Hill area, including Sugar Hill Inn. The area is beautiful and the Inn historic and enchanting.
