We had the absolute best time today with Captain Clint! He is extremely knowledgeable and personable. We found tons of shells, some sand dollars, fished and even saw a pod of dolphins! We've been visiting the OBX for years and the entire party agrees that this has been our favorite experience ever. Thank you and we can't wait to do it again!

What an awesome trip! We had a great day sailing to several islands, snorkeling, zyacking, fishing, hunting shells and sand dollars! Captain Ken was super awesome and very attentive to our family! He made sure we got to do all the things we wanted to do and even threw in some surprise shark tooth hunting! He even tried to find some conch shells for us but turns out he found a different surprise instead and made for a funny moment. We had a lot of fun and will definitely be making a return visit next year! Thank you Family Water Adventures!

We were able to easily book our experience over a month in advance. When we arrived Tammy and her team greeted us with smiles and explained which boat we would be boarding. Our Captain, Kenny, was great! He was very friendly and professional. He made the experience everything we had hoped it would be and more. Our grandkids found sand dollars, seashells, had so much fun snorkeling, and zayaking!! Captain Kenny even helped our granddaughter land a bluefish! :) Our family had such a wonderful time! I cannot thank Family Water Adventures and especially Captain Kenny for making our day so much fun! Thank you!!!

We called on a Friday to book two boats whenever they had availability. There was an opening on the upcoming Sunday. On the Saturday prior to our visit we checked the weather and it did not seem good so we questioned what were to happen in the event of bad weather. Captain Tami sent us pictures of some weather radar screen saying it all looks good and if it were to rain they normally can avoid the storm cells with their boats. Sunday morning arrives. We are an hour away and it rained on and off the whole way there. We talked to the captains, who were very cordial and professional, about the weather. They were reassuring and said according to them the storm is passed and we should find some nice stops. We got on board and took off. We beached on a nearby sandbar and remained there for what seemed a short time (no eatches). There was storm build up and we practically ran back to the boats. The captains took the decision to cut our excursion short because of the instability of the weather. Once at the dock the captains charged us 300$ per boat. We paid and left a tip of 20$ for each captain packed all our stuff back in the trucks and got in the cab and that’s when we saw the time…. We had only been gone for an hour and fifteen minutes of the 4 hour charter and we paid way over half of what the full price was going to be. If I divided the full price into 4 hours and then multiplied it by 1 hour and a quarter I should of paid 164,06 per boat and a 15% tip would be 24 dollars. Knowing this was after the fact we still thought we would like to discuss the situation with Captain Tami to see if there was at all possibility of an adjustment. We were not looking for a huge compensation but maybe just a little good will effort to make us feel a little less like we were succoured in. This is the “one star part”. She recoiled and responded on the offensive going as far as qualifying our tips as small and so on. That’s when we read the responses she has to adverse commentary and thought we might get entertaining responses on her part…. If you do not mind encouraging buisnesses that are run by a person that responds to négociations with childish attacks, go for it. In the meantime check her response to this and all the other bad to mediocre reviews she got.

Your trip was a curtesy booking it’s not a scheduled “ on the books “ trip that is normally scheduled by booking online , there were at least 6 or so messages relayed back and forth to even get it scheduled- you texting me and me texting the two captains - this was a weekend trip that was put together because you really wanted to get out and do something last minute - I tried very hard to accommodate you and your two boat group. The weather patterns - (days in advance) are never accurate . In addition my captains deal with the small storms that build up quickly and or some times dissipate quite often - we work very hard to make every trip amazing - as you can see from the 300+ reviews that you didn’t mention - I stated to you that when boats leave the dock most of them charge the full rate . You were not charged the full rate - not even close - you are paying for their time their being their being there early to prepare for your last minute trip on a Saturday morning that they gave up doing something for themselves and made time for you. You are paying for the fuel they spent to drive you out - ( which is outrageously expensive ) and wear and tear on a vessel you were onboard , plus the cleaning of the vessel that you got on and off of , which has to be done . I was not going to negotiate a price with you that my captain agreed was the price he was charging you for a service he provided . I never charged you a deposit , which is how we do everyone else , I could have easily just told you that there were no available trips and left it at that, instead I tried to see to it that your large family had two boats last minute - as you were very persistent on the phone that you wanted to go. Instead of appreciating his efforts and his professionalism, and his decision to keep your family safe - from a storm, you are writing a bad review . He should have charged you full price as other boats would do, however he did not . Instead of being thankful for all of that - you want to negatively effect my business. People who will read your negative review will understand how it works in the charter industry and know we did the right thing and charged you fairly . I’m not worried about it- as far as your tipping, I’ll just say this . Most Canadians don’t tip well ever . We all know that - hope you had a great rest of your vacation . Maybe next time ask what the fees are prior to getting onboard instead of complaining after the fact, had the storm not come , you would have had a great time - and not complains about the 520 price you would have been charged .
