Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

The Blue Cave on Bisevo Island definitely used to be a great place to visit. A few years back you could to pretty much anything, which meant swimming/diving into the caves or visit them with a smaller dinghy. Unfortunately, the authority on the Island of Vis has desided that the only way you can go into the caves is by... More

You take a organized boat-tour from the ha our of your choice. From Hvar the boat ride is about 50min. You will be dropped at a little harbor where you have to purchase tickets (70kun/p) with a number. You will then board a small boat when your number is up which brings you round the corner to the cave where... More

Off the east coast of the island of Bisevo is a special jewel-- you have to decide you want to go tho as it is a destination only attraction. Even once you get there, if the harbor is busy you might need to wait an hour or more before an authorized dinghy comes to pick you up to go in.... More

On the small island of Bisevo placed in the southwest of Vis island, the most valuable tourist attraction is the Blue Cave. The island is 5 nautical miles away from Komiza or 15 minutes drive by speed boat. Blue Cave (Plava spilja) has two entrances. One is smaller, artificially deepened, through which a paddle boat may pass. The other entrance... More

We took a boat from Komiza (Vis) to Bisevo. First surprise upon arrival--the entrance to the cave was NOT included in the boat trip price, something that was not mentioned when purchasing the tour at the agency. There were about 250 people waiting in line before us so we had to wait for about 90 minutes on the scorching heat... More

lots of people waiting in line to get into the cave, you have to purchase a ticket on the docks, then wait for your number and enter with a small boat, each time there is about three boats in the cave, really small entrance, and only about 10 min in the cave, but it was worth the visit if you... We went with the best boat in the harbour from Komiza with Royal Marine Croatia and it was one of the best experiences whilst in Croatia. Such a fun boat with great brothers that own the business and music to make it even better! The blue cave itself was good and even in July wasn't overly busy. I personally enjoyed... More

The blue caves are a must see if you are in Vis. Absolutely magical. The only downside is that you are only in the caves for maybe 5-10 minutes max. They are small.

This place is pure magic. That blue is hypnotizing! I wish we could join those divers. Water is crystal clear and light coming from bellow looks like not from these world.
