Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

If you're there at exactly the right time, eerie blue light reflected from 2nd underwater opening. Otherwise not very unique.

We cruised up from Vis. We arrived early, briefly pulled along side to get off our boat to buy tickets. We received an early number so had very short wait. Our tour guide was very experienced with the boat and took us through the narrow passage to the cave, most others went around the small island. The cave itself was... More

Our boat tour left Komiza at 8.45 to Bisevo and arrived at 9:45 (you could get a quicker speed boat though) When we arrived we queued for approx 5 min to buy our ticket and then you get given a number for a boat, we were 169 and 170. We only had to wait for a few minutes before our... More

Be warned that you need to get to the Blue Caves early, the queue can be huge if you get there too late in the morning. We got there at 10am and had to wait over an hour before our national park boat left for the caves. The caves were spectacular and worth the wait. The rest of the trip... More

The cave itself is awesome but unless your are already nearby like on the island of Vis the trip out and back will probably take you at least half a day, you will only spend 5 minutes in the cave - and it is probably not worth the money. But then again the boat trip may be nice and you... More

The cave itself is worth visiting, however the whole system focused on charging and taking tourists there is not. Still, I'd recommend visiting in low or late season.

Well first you have to buy a ticket - ok thats normal - even the approx. 1 hour we had to stand in line. Then you get a number and have to wait till your number is on screen. This took 2 hours and is not acceptable anymore. The staff is unfriendly and command the tourists around like soldiers. Understandable... More

We sailed to a charted safe anchorage point next to the Blue Cave of Bisevo and during our approach were waved off by the local tour operators. We ignored them and anchored safely a short distance from travelling entrance. However, it was clear that the locals were preventing entry to anyone who wasn't prepared to pay for the official boat... More

The cave itself is awesome but the visit goes only for 2 minutes if that.. Felt like we were on a conveyer belt a bit.

We took a viator 5-island tour with a stop in Hvar Town for an hour and this was our first stop. We were lucky to get there really early. We were number 169 and 170. By the time we got back they were already up to 300 with tons of people waiting. Basically your tour boat anchors on the island.... More
