Modra spilja (The Blue Cave), located in a small cove of Balun on the island of Biševo. The cave itself is 24 meters long, 10–12 meters deep and up to 15 meters high, while the entrance to it measures 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters wide.In the year 1884. baron Eugene von Ransonnet described and depicted it. On his suggestion the entrance to the cave has been enlarged, making it this way accessible to the entire world. The cave has two entrances: the smaller one artificially widened and deepened so that the boat could sail through, and the wider one, located at the southern part of the cave – the underwater passage, through which the magical game of the light and water is performed…Depending on the season, the ideal moment to visit the cave is between 9 and 13 o’clock in the morning.

The long boat trip was SO worth the beauty of this exquisite natural phenomenon. Our guide was most helpful in that as we landed in peak season there were long queues and he had us queue early and receive a " waiting list" number - so that we could wait in the shade till our number was called. Take drinking... More

The Blue Cave is on the island of Bisevo. These trips are undependable as they do not go ahead if the tides are not right to enable a low boat to travel into the cave through a low access point. Therefore, you can't buy your tickets for the boat trip to the Blue Cave in advance. Whilst we were in... More

Visiting this cave was one of the top highlights of a very memorable trip to Hvar. Apparently this cave is often not able to be accessed because of wind and waves, because the opening to access it is incredibly tiny. Therefore, you can't buy your tickets into the cave in advance. Everyone has to duck in the small boats which... More

Worth seeing. Well organised but prepare to wait in line. Professional guides. Even if a bit expensive for a low budget worth visiting. Check the wheather first, no sun no effect, strong wind no entry

Having swam in Capri's Blue and Green Grottoes, I was a bit disappointed that a ten minutes cave boat ride is all that is offered and even being slightly off season, the green cave was very full of boats for a comfortable dip. Never-the-less - an amazing trip to get there. There must be a thousand companies across Dalmatia that... More

Cave Bisevo (the Blue Cave) is widely advertised as THE MUST SEE cave if you visit Croatia. So I think it's best I tell you a couple of things before you decide whether to visit it or not. First of all there is an entry fee, which is not included in any of the other island tours you may book... More

You can reach it from most beautiful fishing village of Komiza on island Vis. I recommend using one of larger boats and enjoy 8 km trip. Sea can be sometimes pretty rough and if you are sensible do take some tablets just in case. On the island of Bisevo there is another Green Cave which is also worth seeing. And... More

Over commercialised. We have been visiting Vis, Croatia for the last 17 years and during those stays have been to see the Blue Cave on Bisevo most times. The cave is still amazing but the docking area was like a cattle market. Too many bars and too many people now. This will be our last visit to the cave. We... More

Although you will most likely have to wait once you have booked your ticket (have a coffee and rest your feet until your number to join the boat is called) this phenomenon is worth the time to do. Travelling by charter boat to Bisevo, we arrived at 9.30 am and waited about 30 minutes. Our party was split up to... More
