Went to the chesterfield gorge with the whole family. Was great with 2 little ones but had to carry them on the way back. Fun hourlong visit

Gorgeous Day
Dec 2020 • Family
A nice .7 mile walk today through the Gorge. Bit of snow but not slippery and trail was well graded and marked. Great late December pick.

Beautiful waterfalls
May 2019 • Couples
We have been in the area before and never knew about this “hidden gem” it’s right on Rt 9 and with a short walk you get to the falls then can continue on a longer looping trail following the water, stunning sights, soothing sounds and great place to get away for awhile. We will definitely be back!

If you have trouble walking this would be challenging since it’s not flat walking and roots and rocky in some sections so take your time and watch where you step, it’s easy to trip when your looking at the flowing waterfalls ;)

Take a video to bring home the peaceful sights and sounds!

There was a cabin for info but we didn’t stop in, see others comments for info.

Short walk
Apr 2019 • Couples
Very short walk around a small gorge that has a couple bridges going over. Not much of a hike, but worth taking a look because it’s there.

A great short walk
Sep 2018 • Solo
I have been by here several times, and finally stopped to check it out. It was very quiet today, and I only saw 2 other people on the trail. It is dog friendly (on leash). A 0.7 mile round trip walk down into the gorge. Very pretty! I would like to stop back sometime when there is more water. The store at the top is apparently staffed with volunteers - the woman who was working today was very helpful and a joy to talk to. The dogs and I had a nice time!

Nice place for short hike. Beautiful scenery. You can also venture of the well marked trail and explore some more rugged terrain.

A small wonderful state park
Sep 2018 • Couples
This place is not well advertised nor is it a well know tourist destination but it is a great little state park and well worth a couple hour stop (or less).
It is advertised as 0.7 miles and my guess is it is longer round trip.
The trail is very rough and well marked.
The day we went there were a lot a felled trees which distracted from the great scenery and experience.
The gorge was small but so pretty.
Just loved this place.
Stop by the gift shop as the lady that works there was so very nice.
Well worth a visit.

half mile trail, worth the stop if on rt. 9
Jun 2018 • Family
this is a half mile trail and goes down the gorge and around the gorge. There are areas that can be steep at times, fenced in, has some sitting areas walked the trail and didn't spend a whole lot of time here. off tr. 9 if passing through. not sure i would drive out of the way if I was to go back. saw a few picnic tables up top and one down by the water. a little store that is more open early in the day.

Quick hike, moderate terrain and hills
Jun 2018 • Couples
Short hike down one side of the gorge and back up the other. Terrain can be iffy with roots, rocks and loose debris. Signage for trials is almost non-existant. Non trail paths are everywhere. A small shack is run by volunteers which has snacks, drinks, souvenier stuff and modern toilets but check hours. Pit toilet is open year round.

The gorge is incredible being in the southern part of the state.

The woman there was friendly informative and helpful.
It is an easy walk and worth the stop.
