We were not brave enough to hike so this was a great way to get to the top. Really steep on the way up and if you do the steam engine, ash definitely come in windows and can sting a bit. Perfect amount of time...More

We came from England to stand in the footsteps of Portillo and were not disappointed. Great ride up on the train with just enough commentary from the guide. You have just over an hour at the top. We had great views, 100 miles visibility, the...More

A very easy and relaxing day! Easy parking with plenty of time options for your rides up the mountain and back. It was very fun and informative. The stores both in the station and atop the mountain offer fun souvenirs. Walking around on top of...More

My husband and i really enjoyed the cog railway. We took the steam engine trip, which seemed to have a little more character, although any of the trips would be fun. Incredible views from the top and an exciting ride down the hill as well.

We took the 2:30 Steam train. Even though we were unable to get to the summit (wind speeds over 70 mph) stopping at the 3/4 mark was fine. Yes, it would have been great to get out and walk around on the top but safety...More

Highly recommended if you are staying in the area. The views from the train are fantastic. We were lucky enough to have a clear view from the top of Mt Washington. The temperature really drops up there so be prepared.

Spent part of a day here on the way from NY to Maine. It was a beautiful sunny day and the view from the summit was spectacular. It is expensive but well worth it for those not interested in driving to the summit in a...More

I would base that on what else your vacation entails. We like to travel in spring and fall for obvious reasons. We don't like heat or lots of people. Spring time in that area would be rather cold. June is a great time and... More
