We did a return train trip and were lucky to get good clear weather and sun on the way up and on arrival at the top. This changed swiftly to thick cloud cover with no views until the trip back down. Best seats are on the left of the train for the ascent and the opposite for the return journey.... More

We went to the top of Mount Washington with the Coq railways train it was amazing so beautiful as well as our 2 break man were very informative and funny. Very exhilarating once we got up 6000 feet amazing views very cold and windy so bundle up but so worth it also there is a restaurant at the top that... More

We are so glad we were convinced to take this train to the top of Mount Washington. What an amazing trip--an, actually, a trip back in time! We chose to take the ride up in the passenger car pulled by the steam train. And the view--absolutely breathtaking! The summit has a wonderful museum--and views all the way to the Atlantic... More

Great place to visit. Try to get the steam engine rather than one of the diesels - nothing can beat that smell! The two cafe's are a bit limited in fact when we reached the summit there was no hot or warm food available which we could have done with. The train was worth every penny. We could see the... More

If you are a certain age and remember steam trains or even if you aren't this is a fantastic experience, not to be missed! Great team who made even the poorest weather part of the trip! We loved it and would recommend it to all.

I loved it. It looked old and was as slow as they get going up and down. Breathtaking views of course all around on Mt. Washington and once you reach the top it is absolutely beautiful. The crew were super friendly and informative. Overall it is a must experience at least once in a lifetime. I don't have the patience... More

We thought the views from the cathedral ledge we good - little did we know that on top of Mt. Washington was so three dimension - aly great! We did have a great day - very very clear - and that probably helped. The train ride was mostly straight up! Kinda of fun too. Conductors were entertaining and informative. On... More

All the review I did said this was the thing to do. Unfortunately, we made our reservations early and when we arrived there was a front that moved into the area. Visibility was very low, not much to see. The railway was interesting and we enjoyed that part. Not much to see. It takes 3 hours, one hour up and... More

We rode the Cog Railway to celebrate my father's 90th birthday. As an aside, this is a great thing to do for someone who loves to hike but can no longer manage a strenuous activity. While we didn't need a wheelchair, they are able to make accommodations for those who do. We were incredibly lucky to be there on an... More

We booked on line (necessary for the steam train) 2 days in advance. We took the steam train at 9am. Quite expensive but seriously worth it. Being pushed by a 108 year old train using a ton of coal to ascend really was an experience. Our brakeman was very interesting and knew loads about the train and the area. He... More
