We loved this trip! It was a beautiful, scenic ride to the top. Loved learning about the history of the area, too. The wintry treats at the top by the firepits were awesome and made the experience even better! Great trip for the whole family!

I enjoyed my winter trip on the COG. It is expensive for the one hour trip but I liked it. The toasting of the marshmallows and cookies plus warm beverages at the Waumbek Station was a nice feature. The train goes 4mph didn't take long to get to W.S however if I had to ride this to the summit I would probably get a tad bored so I felt the winter trip was good enough for me. The trip to the summit is also double the price. I could see why some people would say it is overpriced. If you want views I do recommend doing the trip to the summit. While we had some really nice views i did feel it wasn't up high enough. We had decent weather and the sun came out. I noticed the clouds covering the summit. I was on the right side of the train. It didn't matter because it was a winter trip.

We took the COG railway to the. Waumbek station, elevation 4000 feet. Our guide and brakemen was Feebe and she was informative. The ride takes about 15 up, 30 minutes at the station then 15 minutes back down. They offer, coffee, tea and hot coco with a little snack at the top. The temperature the day we reached the mountain was 3 degrees. Make sure you dress warm if during winter months as their is no heat on train and very little at the station. Cost is $41 per person. Gift shop, small museum and snacks sold at the ticket station.
