We were willing to pay a bit extra for the novelty of the clear kayaks, but unfortunately the kayaks are a more translucent than clear and between that and the glare of the Sun, you actually get a better view into the clear water by peering over the side of the kayak!
We wanted to do the longer tour, but it only started at like 7am or 8am, which was too early for us, so we did the shorter 1.5 hr tour. We drove to a strip mall parking lot to check in and fill out our waivers (which were not mentioned in any of the lengthy emails sent to use beforehand) and then catch a van ride 10 mins or so to the beach. This was actually really nice and easy and way better than trying to find parking near or at the beach.
The kayak trip itself was a relatively short out and back along some beautiful scenery on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe. On the way out we had perfectly calm water and it was quite chill and relaxing. On the way back we had some solid wind and waves which made it tiring and a bit of an adventure, but really fun too!
We each got a cooler with a water and granola bar, along with all the equipment and a short lesson before we went out. The staff were all super helpful and friendly and fun!

My husband and I originally wanted to book a sunset kayak tour, but Kelsey recommended a different tour due to the wind Tahoe was experiencing in the afternoon/evenings. She was so helpful in finding a spot for us on the scenic shoreline tour, instead. She was clearly very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions.

Jeff was our tour guide, and he was fantastic! He had so much knowledge of the lake and the Tahoe area, and shared all kinds of interesting tidbits with us. He also took great pictures of all the groups during the tour and airdropped them to all of us.

Sierra was in training with the company and acted as a second tour guide. She, too, was very knowledgeable about the lake and surrounding areas, sharing all kinds of info about the history of Tahoe and things to do in the area. She will be awesome!

We had the best experience with Clearly Tahoe. All of the workers were knowledgeable and so friendly. Highly recommend kayaking with this company!

I really wanted to go clear kayaking after seeing pictures on someone's travel blog as my first time in Tahoe. Initially there wasn't much availabilities as I was booking it last minute but luckily I was able to snag a 11am spot on my last day in Tahoe. The lake is definitely a different experience being on it as opposed to watching from afar and being in a clear kayak definitely enhances that experience. The lake was really calming and I did not have to do too much work kayaking so most of the time I was just floating on the water. Our guides Sierra and Heather were really informative and knowledgeable about Tahoe and let us take our time enjoying the experience. The weather was perfect and I'm glad I got to do this before I went home.

My 5yo and I had a fantastic time with Chris as our guide this week, the whole operation from booking (the evening before) to drop off at the kiosk after eas super easy and professional.
The kayaks themselves are easy to maneuver (we had an adult/child double) and provide a fun way to see the lake while staying dry.
We did the 1.5 hour guided tour which was fun and definitely worth having someone guide us around while sharing fun facts about the lake, I considered an hour "self-tour" but this was a much better way to entertain a curious 5yo.

Geoff and Jason were both great tour guides on our 1.5hr tour. They entertained us with jokes, facts about the lake and def took time taking pics of us! There were 2 other couples on our tour and we stopped at this spot where Geoff went on top of a rock and we took turns taking pics. Jason was great with the candid pics. They both got really nice phone cameras too! They went above and beyond after the tour to make sure we get the pictures (including texts, email and even dropbox because the pictures got so compressed. Talk about customer service! Thank you so much Geoff!) They are very respectful and kept their mask on when we are on land and we def all took it off when we're on our kayaks. We are def not regular kayakers and def dont feel rushed/felt left behind during the tour. We went when the wildfires were burning NorCal. The air was still great although the faraway views were a bit smokey but the water is still clear! Was such a nice treat during this pandemic. Why go on regular kayaks when you can have clear kayaks?! Will definitely come back and recommend to our family & friends!

Their "kiosk"/stand is in the safeway plaza parking lot, away from the stores, smack in the middle of the parking lot. Dont trust google maps cause it'll direct you to go to behind the USPS.

My partner and I were in Tahoe to elope and on the morning of our wedding took the 7:30am extended shoreline tour. It was an incredible experience and great start to our wedding day! We actually paddled into the cove that we later got married at the vista overlooking it. Our guide Kelsey was very fun and informative, and helped make the experience extra memorable by taking photos and even playing a wedding song as we got to the cove.

Visiting Tahoe mid-July, we were looking for something fun to do with the family, while being socially distant from others. Found Clearly Tahoe's kayak tours, and this fit the bill. We took an evening LED tour, but believe the day tours would be much more fun because there would be so much more to see of beautiful Lake Tahoe. Our guide was pleasant, the clear kayaks are cool, and the LED lighting made it fun.

The water in Lake Tahoe is CLEAR and, as I have discovered, you don't need clear kayak to see it! Our guide Taylor was the worst. He spent the entire 2.5 hours flirting with a gal who was travelling solo. My 15-year old daughter commented that she felt like we were tagging along on their first date. It was so awkward! We (and the rest of the people on our excursion) either paddled ahead or behind them. It could have been nice, informative paddle if we actually had a guide who cared. Not worth my hard-earned money :(

Patty, we are so sorry to hear about your experience with us. This is clearly not the type of guest interaction we strive for on our tours. We do thank you for taking the time to leave us a review so that we may ensure that ALL future guests get the interaction they paid for and can benefit from our knowledgeable guides. Someone from our team should be reaching out to you personally.

The ultimate paddling experience in Lake Tahoe! The price matches the quality of service that Clearly offers and they really do absolutely everything that is advertised. In addition, everyone is very friendly and polite, from the customer service at the store to the guides who accompany the tour. I will certainly be back for more tours with Clearly Tahoe. I wish long life!

Novel way to kayak at night. It was a beautiful, calm, moonlit night. We enjoyed learning facts about the lake, stars and nature around Lake Tahoe, especially as it was our first visit. It got chilly, but thankfully CT provided blankets so we were quite comfortable.

We thought we would see fish or other creatures in the water based on the description of the tour, but we could only see sand and grasses. May partially be due to low lake level. Our guide was upbeat, knowledgeable and pointed out muskrats and a raccoon so at least we got to see something. Overall, it was a very nice outing.
