Good information from the staff
Feb 2019
The locals have wonderful information. The free coffee was very nice, too. They handed out some crackers and pretzels, too. Nice information at the visitor center. Super friendly staff and people. Very interesting as well!

Rocks
Apr 2019 • Solo
Small visitor center featuring an extensive rock/mineral collection as well as a small nature exhibit (stuffed local fauna). I chatted briefly with the staff members who were friendly and answered several of my questions. There is free literature available about the local area.

I stop by here with some questions and they were very helpful. This is better than the average visitor center.

Limited services
May 2018 • Family
Stopped to ask about the best ghost towns for a small day trip. The gal at the counter said she hasn't lived here long, and referred me to a book that contained limited information. There were a couple of displays around the lobby of this sad and dated convention center. Displays were interesting, but limited. Had to really hunt to find a restroom, which was up on the second floor.

We were stunned - by the apathy and lack of interest
May 2018 • Couples
We first arrived around 10-30am on a friday to find a hand written sign on the front door "Back in around 30 mins".

We walked round the block a couple of times and the door had been unlocked, so we walked in. A strange place with some stuffed animals and broncho memorabilia.

No-one around except a lady in an office (sat at a desk) with "Bureau of Commerce" written above the door, so we opened the door and asked where the Visitor Centre was?

"Here" was here terse response, and she went immediately back to looking at her computer screen.

My wife and I exchanged surprised glances, looked at a couple of racks of brochures, then left, feeling that we had perhaps caught her on a bad day.

Better than average!!

The lady was very helpful, gave us some honest information on accommodation which is refreshing! Had a pleasant walk around the back streets at her suggestion.
The animal collection is interesting, from all over the world and still adding.
A cute town in the middle of nowhere, the place to stop between Yellowstone and Yosemite's!

Nice Exhibits and Visitor Center in Winnemucca Nevada
Jul 2017 • Couples
We stopped to see the exhibits again at the visitor center in Winnemucca. They were setting up for a large dinner in the hall. The visitor center is free to visit. There is nice taxidermy animals, and other things to see. The redwood tree in the parking area (from Crescent City) is also fun for us to see.

Hmmm

Basically none of the animals mounted in the museum are native to the area. What a strange place. I left feeling very confused and with no real information that would help me learn more about the area.

Great place

I love how they have an animal, rock, western history display for all to see free of charge. It has three levels, elevators and stairs to all levels plus bathrooms. Its a great place for weddings, business dinners, Santa village. Great for any community event. Has a dance floor as well
