I haven't been here for over 50 years. Had to show my wife what an old western town looks like. Many many souvenir shops to choose from and lots to look at. We both enjoyed this experience, and had to buy some nik naks.

Lots of antique shopping. Unfortunately we arrived the day of a big snowfall so a lot of the stores experienced a power outage and were closed. The snow was so beautiful!!

We took an unexpected detour on our car trip after I saw Virginia City on the map. I thought, wow, I want to go there, remembering the Westerns of the '60s such as Bonanza and The Virginian.
What a great place and so authentic. Wooden boardwalks and great little stores and unusual neat things. Good workmanship. We were in a hurry and didn't spend as much time as I would have liked.
One needs about 3 hours to stroll leisurely and then have a bite to eat somewhere. So maybe 4 hours.
Great place I'd recommend to visit.

This is a little place for shopping. Probably a good place for those looking for wild west antiques and memorabilia, plus some food stuff.

It was fun to walk around and look at the antiques. As with any antique shops some stuff was cheesy and other items are cool. Make sure you stop and take your picture at the jail.

The Antique Mall is fun for a stroll. It's about 10-12 stalls lined up on two sides of an alley. Each shop has a different array of goods based on the owner's personality and interests and it ranges from fun collectibles to complete junk depending on your perspective. There is no antique furniture, the focus is really on collectibles from as early as the 1920s all the way to the 1970s. It's a great little nostalgia trip, like going through your grandmother or great grandmother's attic. Prices are fair and everyone is very friendly.

I know the name says mall but it really reminds me of a series of nice flea market stalls with a lot of variety and reasonable prices for a tourist town but without all of the little tourist trinkets

If you have been to Reno, NV and not gone to Virginia City you have really missed out! This is an amazing historical town. Once a huge producer of gold and silver it may have turned the tides of the Civil War for the Union Army. Old wooden walkways, plenty of stores selling stuff from China, or rocks, but it has beautiful views, and some not so restored buildings from the 1800;s.. Don't eat the corn dogs and fries. Go to the bar that sells sit down sandwich meals. They are great. It is a short, but beautiful drive up the mountain from Reno. You might even see some wild horses on the way. Don't forget to go by the historical graveyard and read the tombstones. Poetry from a different era when life was very hard. The entire family loved it!

There is a lot to see and do in Virginia City. Explore the old historical buildings with lots of eclectic memorable things from days gone by. Gamble, eat, explore the museums and mines. Watch a gunfight or visit one of the cemeteries.

Well Australia has its Sovereign Hill at Ballarat but nothing compares to Virginia City.
This place is the real deal. If you are my vintage and remember the golden days of television during the late 50's through the 60's and into the early days of colour television, then this place is a treasure.
Totally devoid of today's accommodation, service stations, fast food outlets and freeways, this is as close to America's West and you can get (I think). They have got this place just right. Just make your way to Reno on the freeway system and you will see the signs to Virginia City. Book into one of the original hotels and go drink beer and eat with the locals, you will love it.
