OK City Park
Dec 2019
This is a park along the river and it is an OK green space in spite of the current challenges of poverty.

Used to be nice
May 2018 • Friends
Rock Park and neighboring Gateway Park used to be nice, but in the past year it has been taken over by homeless camps. Lots of garbage, drifters, and ferral cats. Its not safe. I live in the nearby RV park for the past 9 years and I am planning on leaving because the city of Sparks does not care about the deteriorating condition of this park. Its not safe, I would not recommend, or at least proceed with caution.

Great place for a swim, and long walk.
Aug 2017 • Family
I knock it down a star because of the amount of people that go here in the hotter months. Aside from the crowds though it's a great place. Ice cream trucks frequent here, you can go for a swim in the river(you can jump off some of the rocks too), and there is a very long paved trail that I've taken for 6 miles(not sure how long it it).

Easy access to the Truckee River.
Sep 2017
Rock park is a narrow strip of greenery in the city that is alongside the Truckee river. There is ample parking and toilets. The river narrows at a stretch to create fast water. Trout fishing downstream from that area can be good.

Lots of family fun

They have an RV park, volleyball, grassy areas and waterfront areasas well as a little playground. Bring water shoes and watch your kids while in the water. It's free for day use.

Great place to take kids swimming in the river!
Aug 2016 • Family
We took our 3 kids several times to Rock Park to swim in the Truckee River. They are 12,10, & 5. The river was moving but not so fast you couldn't stand up in it. It was also fairly shallow so the kids could stand up easily. As with any water feature kids need to be watched, the 5 year old had a life jacket on, the other two are very good swimmers but I still had boundaries of how far they could go downstream. They meet other kids their ages and played for several hours. We packed a lunch & ice chest with drinks. We brought 'noodles' & 'squirt guns' from the dollar store which most ended up down stream as the kids were told NOT to go after $1 toy once it got so far away from them. There is some shade trees on the shore and a couple picnic tables. We went mid week and it was busy but not jammed with people/dogs/kids.

Park on the Truckee River
Jul 2016 • Family
This park sits on the Truckee River and the bike path that you can ride West past Reno staying on the river. A good place to have a picnic and wade in the water. Down side no flush toilets just porta potties.

Good for a Dog, but not a Children
Jul 2016 • Couples
I don't have much to say about this place except that we were not impressed. We drove here not on purposed, but stopped to see what it was about while having lunch. It was relaxing to watch the river and people playing there, although it made us nervous watching the kids slipping and falling on the rocks. One parent had to wade in the water to get her son out of the water after he slipped and fell. She carried him back to the car and who knows what happened after that. He was screaming all the way.

We saw a family with a couple of dog that seemed to have fun chasing each other and cooling off in the really hot weather last week.

I would not want to go in the water at this place and would not recommend it for kids based o what I saw. I also wondered about potential issues with some homeless people close by.
