I liked this course a lot. As someone who gets to the Reno area a couple times a year I was happy having picked this course. Having never played the course before my buddy and I were lucky to get paired up with a couple of locals who had some knowledge of the course which helped. Plays fair and not too much trouble to get into. Open enough for the weekend hacker too.The course is in pretty good shape as of the last weekend of July 2017. There are other courses in the area that are nicer but for a much steeper price point. This course is priced accordingly. The staff was friendly and the beer was cold after the round and the bloody mary was tasty on the way out to play.

Hi gang,
Whilst in sunny Reno I searched for a new place to play. For years I've been avoiding playing Sierra Sage based on verbal opinions and reviews found on Trip advisor. I decided to give it a go. $34 for a Sr ($24+14 cart) a good price. The new owners have restored the greens, got the fairways in great shape and the rest is coming. Carts paths are Ricky, they'll rearrange your kidneys if you're not careful where you drive. Basically a flat desert course with scads of sagebrush on the sides of every fairway. If you're not straight off the tee, you'll be scrounging around the bushes, just beware of rattlesnakes.
Pro shop/restaurant areas are small but quaint. Carts are gas and are finicky at times, not real comfortable considering the state of the cart paths.
Next time I'm in Reno, I'll definitely look to play here again.

Second time playing golf. I rented clubs, which were excellent. The staff went out of their way to find me a left putter to go with the righty clubs. I know unusual. The course is not beautiful. There is sage brush everywhere, but the jack rabbit sightings were a plus. A nice variety with the holes, according to the veteran golfers in the group. They allowed my daughter to just drive the cart. I just cannot say enough about how nice the staff was. We had such a good time on Sunday, we returned on Monday for another nine. I

Booked a tee time online for September 12, 2019 at 11:52 am. The booking stated the charges were $17.00 a piece for me and the guy I was playing with plus $14.00 a piece for a cart. Upon arrival In was told the price was summer rates at $26.00 a piece plus cart fees. This needs to be addressed.

Course is in great shape, nice restaurant at the club house. Loved the golf boards instead of the cart. Friendly staff and priced right. Great place to play!

I played this course for 9 holes and had a good round. Actually parred 4 holes(!) for me which is GOOD!. Its a great layout with some good challenges. A very amazing course, especially for the price!. The views are truly amazing and the course is in great shape. I really enjoyed playing here and will be back if we come back to the Reno area! A truly amazing course that I would love to get back to!

Called New Years Day to reserve a tee time. Was told by an individual in the pro shop that the course was open but had about a 45 minute delay but to come for our scheduled tee time because they were making up the time. Arrived and the course was closed (gates locked) and had been closed all day. Not sure what the individual in the pro shop was trying to accomplish by telling us the course was open as well as reserving a tee time. Recommend steering clear of this course. Course also looked marginal from what we could see. Lots of other courses in the area, recommend trying those instead of Sierra Sage.

Personalized Experience:
I golf all around the world and most of the golf courses it seems like your just a face. However with Sierra Sage they're not only knowledgeable, but also they go out of there way to please. I had forgotten that I ended my season there around September 2013 and the golf pro had noticed my grips were starting to get a little worn. 5 months later I went there, to start my preseason warm up game. Not only did he remember I needed to change out my grips, he had already purchased my customized grips. Within 10 minutes he was able to switch them out and charged me next to nothing. To me it was the defining moment that really set the bar in my eyes for, keeping a life long customer.
Course information
The course level is 3, not a very hard course however if your a beginner, watch out for the wind most drives should be set at punch instead of approach. Its a wide open course with beautiful fair ways and well maintained greens. Because it is set in a desert like environment there's a lot of sage brush. If your a slicer be sure to come with a full set of balls or use bright colors. Otherwise very fun, great, beautiful course. You will never have a bad experience, and learn some great techniques along the way.
Sincerely,
Clint Koepnick
