The day I went, a Saturday, the fourth floor was reserved for a wedding, the third closed pending a new show, which left only the first floor, dinning room/gift shop and the second floor open. But, up on the second floor was an exhibition of American impressionists artists. Although not a large exhibition the quality is excellent including paintings by... More

We saw a wonderful show called "The Horse". It was beautifully curated, and also very moving. The show included historical dioramas, paintings, film, and poetry.

Just love this place. A modern design with constantly changing exhibits--from the classic stuff to avant garde. They just had a fantastic horse display similar to that you'd find in a natural history museum. They have a gift shop, art classes, movies and art talks, a restaurant, hands on programs for kids, First Thursdays with music,a rooftop indoor/outdoor place for events.... I usually go about once a month as they have changing exhibits. My most recent visit was for Cowboy Poet. The new sky room is a nice venue for special events. The whole museum is nicely done.

The Nevada Museum of Art is an exceptional museum for its size. The Museum focuses on Nevada, western subjects and environmental art. Hosting locally curated exhibits - last years remarkable Tahoe exhibit or nationally touring exhibits - the Shaw contemporary aboriginal art collection - we always make time to visit. We recently visited when hilariously witty Cowboy poet Paul Zarzyski... More

We visited Reno last month and wanted to take in the horse culture - wild horses, the historic west and found out the Nevada Museum of Art had an exhibition on the Horse...everything from the evolution, biology, history, culture and fine art of the horse. Don't miss it.
