We saw the Lake Tahoe exhibit and were very impressed with the museum. The basket collection on display was especially striking. The Gift Shop offers a wide array of affordable items.

Reliable, fresh, inventive fresh food. The daily tartine is especially fun. Soups are always tasty. I love that they have cookies - so few restaurants offer cookies for dessert. Staff is fun and generally attentive.

The collection is quite splendid, and nicely displayed in dynamic spaces that allow a natural flow between galleries. We enjoyed the Architecture as much as the Art!

One of the few museums in the country rated for preservation. A beautifully designed building with marvelous sculptures outside. The recent Lake Tahoe Exhibit was extraordinary, including an installation using fortune cookies to represent the underlayment for the railroad tracks built by Chinese coolie labor, and an extraordinary exhibition of Native American woven baskets. The exhibition devoted to horses was... More

This smallish museum has interesting and well-curated exhibits. The exhibits have been a combination of modern and unusual and historical. They also have a nice little gift shop. Worth a visit!

attended during Arttown (summer-year-2016) and there was a jazz band playing inside, respite with cafe which was fine for a short stop/abbreviated brunch, upstairs exhibit (pay fee) might return later date, walked outside saw small gardens juxtaposed among sculptures (the 'wood' looking horse isn't...contemplated how it was made by the artist)...on to more exhibits around Arttown...
