Hi gang,
It’s been 3 yrs since our last visit. I was very surprised to see so many areas closed along the Midway. In better days there were acrobats performing overhead while the children played and the parents paid.
However, now in 2021 the pandemic has created a large labor shortage so many businesses have found it necessary to cut services, store/restaurant hours and availability to many things. The Atlantis Hotel has a sign stating due to manpower shortage there is no valet service. Likewise it’s true at Silver Legacy and at Circus Circus.
You’ll notice a distinct reduction in employees scurrying about. They’re doing the best they can. The machines are, as usual, doing their own things taking your money. Definitely check the hotel’s website or ask to see hours of operation of certain facilities.
Let’s hope people will return to the casino jobs soon and we can get back to where things used to be.
Wear a mask and stay safe.

I haven’t been to circus circus hotel in about 2 years and how things have changed. The rooms are much pricier than before, but I guess that’s due to the renovation. Only one hotel tower and 1 garage open now ?? I’m not sure if they’re renovating the other tower or what but if you go, get there early because it’s a mad house when check in time arrives.

Rooms : Rooms were clean, nice size , Keurig coffee maker and fridge in room. Beds somewhat comfy but the pillows need to go! The most uncomfortable pillow I’ve ever slept in.

Dining: There’s the Habit, Panda Express , and some pizza joint in the food court. Breakfast spot to the side. They got rid of the BUFFET !!! 😫(I think it was silver legacy’s) but either way. You have to walk all the way down to El Dorado to eat at a buffet BOO!!

Casino : Circus circus casino was dead. Not many people. There was way more action at El Dorado and silver legacy.

Midway: Games are alright. Somewhat pricey if you ask me. My 2 teens didn’t care for it much and went through $40 quickly. I would say the midway is for younger kids.

Overall my stay here was ok. I mean main reason why I booked here is to be able to play at the casinos and have my teens be free to wander around. If you don’t want to deal with all the loudness, and kids everywhere book next door at Silver Legacy or El dorado.

What a strange place to stay! It was clean, safe, cheap, easy to get to, had a great breakfast buffet... but 24 hours a day, people are plugging quarters into slots and standing around dealers with this air of glassy hope/fear.

Obviously, I don't gamble. We had a cheap flight into Reno and we drove out the next morning to Yosemite. We looked at the standard corporate hotels for a place to spend the night, but the hilarity of staying at Circus Circus won us over. We took a chance and it ended up being a memorable place! Not as kitschy as I had hoped, but can't be beat for the price.

This place has certainly seen better days. The table games are gone except for busy weekends, so it's just a huge hanger of slot machines which are barely in use. Just an empty sad place. No energy. I used to love to gamble here, but those days are gone.

I stayed in the Circus Circus as a stop off when touring around the US for several weeks, hence I have stayed in many different casino's / hotels & motels at various prices and standards and this was by far the worst experience of them all.

Before I continue, I would like to point out that as an experienced traveller I am open minded and take into account star ratings/prices & locations before making judgement, but a basic level of cleanliness should be a minimum requirement and that was sadly missing at this hotel.

The first room we were given was in the Sky Tower and it was at best a 1 star and certainly not up to the standards as a Rodeway Inn at the side of an Interstate. The room had a huge spiders web in the corner of the room which had clearly been their for weeks - if not months. The carper was filthy with months of dirt all round the edges and generally disgusting.

We complained and the staff were admittedly sympathetic and give us another room to check out before moving us. To our horror, the carper between the beds (in the middle of the room) has 30 plus toe nail clippings all over the floor!

We advised reception and showed them the photos and they were shocked & suitably embarrassed.

Finally, they got the head housekeeper to accompany us to a third room in the main building which appeared acceptable. By this time we were tired, had some food and went to bed rather than spend the night gambling which was the original plan. We then heard the elevator creaking and children screaming all night long but by this time we just give up.

All in all, this Hotel/Casino is unacceptably dirty/noisy and an unpleasant experience which I would recommend anyone to avoid.

To add insult to injury, they still had the cheek to charge the resort fee when we left!

I am surprised at the positive reviews and can only assume some people have very low expectations so feel free to check it out for yourself and make your own mind up, but you have been warned...

Just a quick note for Manager if you do intend to respond saying "your disappointed that we have had a poor experience and you will rectify these issues" I notice others have mentioned some of the above before and theirs been no change. I sympathise with you as you have a big job bringing this accommodation to a reasonable standard....

I will say the staff are great considering the problems they have to deal with.

Fortunately we have moved on and will put this down to a bad experience which is not to be repeated.

If you are traveling to Reno with the kids, the Circus Circus Midway will be a great place for family fun. They have circus acts running throughtout the day, I believe in 20 or 30 minute intervals. These acts are performed right there in the middle of the midway so you don't even need to go anywhere. Just look up or at the stage pending on the act. Plus the circus acts are free. It is basically an indoor carnival, as it has all the carnival games to test your skills or luck ! The games are pretty kid friendly for the most part. Each game will cost you anywhere from $1 to $3 to play. Watch out for the prizes given for wins, as you may need to win a few times to trade up to a prize your kids want. It's pretty easy to spend $100 if you have a couple kids to supply game money to. Then again, what's 100 dollars to see smiles on our kids faces right ?!?! Plus it will eleviate the guilt as you are gambling away their college money later ! just kidding !!! Hopefully you will leave with a bag full of stuffed animals and smiles on your kids faces. All in all this is a popular attraction in Reno for all.

The great thing about going to the Circus Circus is that it is connected to The Silver Legacy, which is connected to the El Dorado. All three casinos are connected to eachother, so you can walk to all 3 casinos without going outside. How good is that ?!?! Have fun !!!

I’m deducting a star just because of the $35-ish per day “resort fee” charges. I don’t get it. We weren’t offered free WiFi, there is NO pool, and a gym facility that we can’t even use; what is the resort fee for?

Other than the resort fee snafu, the room we stayed at is updated, modern, and very clean (see my pictures attached).

Check-in & check-out were fast and easy - during the weekdays. I cannot comment on the weekends.

With a bad smell, dirty rooms, and awful service, Circus Circus is one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Had to stay there with a group and never will travel there again.

Circus Circus is an affordable Casino, Carnival and Circus all rolled up into one facility. You can gamble, play video and carnival games, watch circus acts and eat at the circus buffet. The rooms are clean, the food is Reno Buffet, and the ambience is family fun. Lots of circus colors and lots of kids.
