Convenient and fun

Easy access from Reno with a good variety of runs. It is very family oriented and provides very good views as well as fun and some challenging slopes!

Great local beginner to advanced ski area with mostly groomed trails and a few not. 45 minutes from downtown Reno. If you act early you can get a full season pass for the cost of a weekend. Higher base than most ski areas and the only ski area with great views of Lake Tahoe and Reno from the slopes.

LOCATION: I admit that for many years I did what a lot of other San Francisco bay residents did; we drove up to the West side of the Tahoe area to stay and ski at one of the many nice lodges and slopes there. No more. If you are willing to travel a bit further up over Donner Pass and... More

Some of the best snowboarding available in the U.S. is here in The Chutes. Only 25 minutes from Reno, great variety of terrain for all ski levels, good food. I skied here 5-7 days a week for 7 years (good value, sometimes a bit windy).

Mt Rose has the best all around skiing on the east side of Lake Tahoe. From beginners to advanced skiing you can enjoy the beauty of the area and on most days enjoy the views of Reno and the Washoe Valley area.

Never too busy week days like the mega resorts. Lots of terrain, good food and drinks offered with a wonderful patio to soak up the sun.

We visited Mt Rose with a beginner and advanced skier. To our surprise both had a great time! Good runs for both to choose from. The other perk was how close the parking lot is to the lifts. You literally walk from you car to the lift and you're on your first run! Wonderful!

Mt. Rose is great. It's very high compared to a lot of ski resorts in the Tahoe Basin so that helps snow conditions. It's got a lot of nice steep groomed slopes which I love. The only downer is that on windy days the lifts sometimes have to close.

We are both avid skiers and moved from the Canadian Rockies to Reno. We got season tickets and have certainly not regretted it. While the slopes are relatively short (compared to Whistler and Banff), they provide sufficient time and challenge to have an enjoyable experience. The snow this year has been good, so a definite recommendation for anybody seeking a... More

First time there and had great weather in morning, Got a little windy in the afternoon. Wasn't very crowded on a weekday so got tons of skiing done in a short time. First view is of all the blue and blacks in front of you. Then found an area with the longest green runs I've seen so worked out great... More
