If you are in Laughlin or Bullhead City, go the Davis Dam Park. You'll get an up-close view of the dam, the beautiful Colorado River where you can fish, if you want. There's a playground and a splash pad for kids--and adults.

Nice dam but you cannot get real close or drive across anymore. Nice scenery around it and only a few miles away from the Casinos on the road to Kingman.

We took the river cruise up to the dam - was actually a lot more fun than I expected. We had a good tour guide, and learned a great deal about the dam, and the area.

Day trip from Laughlin (2 Replies)
We're thinking of setting up shop in Laughlin for a night the week of July 4th and we are curious to some other attractions in the area. I hear a lot about Oatman, but is it worth checking out? I was thinking of heading in that area, then making the drive down to Pirate's Cove in Needles and then circle back to Laughlin. Is there any other areas of interest that are within a 1-2 hour drive (besides Vegas lol) from Laughlin? I have also heard about the Davis Dam but is there much to see...More

July, I hope you like heat! But its a dry heat compared to Tampa! Oatman is nice,be sure to head over Sitgreaves Pass and drive to Kingman. See Cool Springs on the way. Davis Dam, Lake Mojave at Catherines Landing if you want to rent a boat. Willow Beach below Hoover Dam if you want to rent a boat and go up river.Or take a trip from the dam to Willow Beach. Take the boat ride from Laughlin down to Havasu. Take a kayak trip thru Topock Gorge. Head over to Christmas Tree Pass, the Wee...More

Hi guys, when we were in Laughlin we went on the river boat trip to the Davis Dam. We were told the story of the elderly lady that did not want to sell her land to the casino years back but was eventually persuaded to. What hotel did it involve where they gave her the accommodation for the rest of her life? We spent last evening debating it. Thank you in advance for a resolution.

I remember that story. I think it was the USS Riverside boat that had a canned narration about the woman that did not want to sell. The hotel in question was the Edgewater as I remember. Way up at the top of the building you could see a bigger window.
Route from Las Vegas to GCNP (11 Replies)
Looking at my Atlas in detail I see...... After passing through Searchlight on Hwy 95, there is a road off to the left (163) which goes to Laughin, Davis Dam then 68 to Kingman. This looks a lot shorter than going all the way down to the 95, then thru Needles, topock, and Yucca to Kingman. Is that route OK?

The road is fine, a bit twisty as you drop down into Laughlin but no problem at all, There are some real weird looking settlements between Laughlin and Kingman (well weird looking to me, im a Brit. Desert dwellers i guess?) which makes for an interesting drive. Certainly looks a shorter distance on a map.
