Nice to walk around but not much there. There are a bunch of trail heads and several Welcome centers that are worth stopping on the way in.

We took the river cruise up to the dam - was actually a lot more fun than I expected. We had a good tour guide, and learned a great deal about the dam, and the area.

We made a picnic lunch and headed for the Nevada side of the Davis Dam..
What a picnic area.
New ramada's with lots tables and all very well maintained.
Nice modern playground for youngsters and special covered
fishing areas that are on the edge of the water.
Good place to spend an afternoon relaxing, fishing or hikingaround the area.

Davis Dam RV Park just south of the Dam. Water turned off during the day for five days. Had to flush tanks every time. Weekends they charge $20 extra Per Person Per Day on top of the $45 to rent a pull through with barely enough room for the truck that pulls our 5th wheel. 100 degrees with No Shade. No picnic table. No room to put our own table. Gravel lot. River current is too swift to swim. Warning signs state "Swim At Your Own Risk". Picnic tables by river are taken over with large local families. People sitting in lawn chairs along the river. Shade tents extending into the river. Motorcycles running through park all night. Overcrowded with locals along the river. River buzzing with personal water craft. Can't get our money back if we move to another park. Worst park I have ever experienced.

This is for Davis camp park Mohave county.
Warning . Covid beach party. Overcrowded. People not social distancing. Strewn with trash, debris and littered. No shade.
Water temp too low to swim despite air temperatures of 102. No patrol or lifeguard. Risk of drowning real if you got into the current beyond the ropes. Bathroom despicable. No shady gazebos except one and it was so trashed I kept going. Loud boom music. Don’t waste your admission fee. Sorry there is no rating less then 1. Shame on you Mohave county and state of Arizona. No wonder so many Covid cases.

I take groups to Pyramid Canyon Park next to the dam....I am amazed how many locals have not seen the dam close up or who did not know about the existence of Pyramid Canyon Park.

Dont stop on the bridge to take a photo. A voice from God will boom out "DONT STOP ON THE BRIDGE". A very clean environment and excellent parking.

On our third annual Red Hat event in Laughlin a 3 day stay was a wonderful experience.
A welcoming ,caring staff at the Flamingo, a Meet and greet reception at the Ramada, shopping "our official indoor sport"at the Horizon Outlets across the street.
Doesn't get better than that. A 3 day stay was under a hundred dollars plus tax-total!
Anyone complaining has not traveled much and maybe has a champagne taste on a beer income. It was WAAAY more than we paid for, in hospitality, large, clean rooms, conveniece and great food, at reasonable prices.
Where else can you get a margarita and a shrimp cocktail for a dollar?
Or a buffet that includes your desserts and beverages including beer and wine....for one price? Whiners please stay home.

The dam is closed for all tours do to security issues and available funds. I was there in December of 02. It would have been much better if you could have had a tour of the dam and power plant. There was not much to see except a view of the river and the lake. No plans are being made to re-open the tours acording to a sign on the office door

Yes they have tours I believe daily. It is so worth it to see the inside. It is amazing the intricate workmanship. You see the turbiines operating. They should have a website for visitor info. We just went to the dam itself and happened to get right in.

Does anyone know how far this is from the Aquarius Hotel in Laughlin? Is there good fishing off shore? Can you rent a fishing boat?

Davis dam is on the outside of laughlin that was once the only way to cross over from Arizona to Nevada . On one side of the Dam is the overflow of lake majave(colorado river) where there is no boats allowed near the bottom and on the top on lake majave no boats are allowed near the Dam neither which is where the best fishing is, but there is much open river banks both River and Lake that has awesomely good fishing. . Many coves a person can actually toss bait or in my case my salami sandwich where the fish in literally hundreds will come out of nowhere!! Also for a small fee one can rent a fishing boat/pantoon and camp out and fish for up to a week!!
What time does the splash pad turn off
