We stayed in Vegas for a week and stayed at a couple different hotels. One was at the very far south side, and the other was the very far north side so this monorail was actually perfect for us to get around. However, if you have kids and you plan to visit the Circus Circus Adventure Dome, the closest stop is the Westgate Hotel. The walk from there is about 3/4 of a mile down Elvis Presley Blvd, where you will encounter quite a few homeless and the occasional deranged person. Don't plan to do this at night or in the extreme heat of the day. Why the couldn't have a stop closer to the Circus Circus is beyond me. I know it's not a great hotel, but people still like to go there, if only somewhere to take their kids.
Also, on the very first day we bought our passes, the machine at Bally's station took one of our tickets and didn't give it back. We had to go back the next morning to the station we bought the ticket from and tell them what happened. Thankfully they gave us a replacement without any issues.
Other than those two issues, we had a very pleasant experience riding the monorail around. Yes, it does stop behind the casinos rather than the front, so you'll be doing a lot of walking, but it still beats walking all those miles on the strip (in scorching heat).

Most of our experience on the monorail was safe and fine. We had taken it without incident for a couple days. On the last day in middle of the afternoon we were targeted at the Bally’s entrance to the Monorail by a young man trying to steal our bags. He was hiding behind a pillar, ran up behind us. I saw him from behind and knew he was coming. When he knew we all saw him, he ran off. Luckily he gave up easily and did not show a weapon. Then we got on the monorail and a couple on the monorail car told my 2 daughters they could “make a lot of money” and to “come sit by them”. So…NO do not ride the monorail. Just hire a Lyft, Uber, or Taxi. Never again for me. Sketchy that day!

It’s normally reliable but not this trip. We got on at Westgate and it stopped at the Convention Center and didn’t move for 1/2 hour, we finally got off and walked back to Westgate in the 112 degree heat. There was a garbled announcement about technical issues that was unintelligible. We only had a few hours as we had a flight to catch, it ruined our morning. They need to do a much better job on announcements that have specifics. They don’t answer the phone and their website has no information on stoppages. Just poor customer service. We will take a cab or Uber next time.

The monorail was clean and efficient in getting us from mid-strip to the Strat. It was a little pricey, but so is everything in Vegas. It was so hot out, so this was a nice cool way to get around. They should have some fans installed at the station stops, as they were so hot!! The stops are a little off the strip, so beware you may need to walk a bit still.

We were excited to discover a monorail station at the MGM and purchased two day tickets for $23/person. Unfortunately, it was a bust for us.
Most of the time we end up walking more just getting to and from the monorail station than we would have simply walking to the next stop.
Finding and getting to the monorail stations is not easy: there is barely any signage and you spend alot of time wandering around the casino to get to the outside station platform, which requires multiple stairs/escalator/elevator up and then multiple stairs/escalator/elevator back down.
We finally ditched the monorail and grabbed a taxi.
In contrast, there are 3 short distance trams, operated by the hotels, that are free, well run, and have easier to find & better placed stations.

We were staying at the MGM GRAND and the monorail was convenient. We bought the 4day pass so that we could wander all we wanted. The monorail ran about every 8-10 minutes, so we never had to wait long. It had stops at 7 locations that gave you lots of options to access places on the Strip. A/C made it enjoyable to ride and each car was very clean.

The monorail was clean and had a short arrival wait. However, there were long distances in between stops, more stations are needed in between, and need sanitization stations. The walk from the monorail to attractions was a bit of a distance, nevertheless, it helped with getting where you wanted.

This is a good way to get around the Strip. You can get tickets for one trip, an all day pass, or a three day pass. The cars are frequent, air conditioned, comfortable. The stations are all behind the hotels, and are frequent enough to limit the necessity of long walks.

Stayed at MGM for 4 nights and used the monorail several times. Took it all the way to the end to check out The Sahara. Perfect for that. Then thought we would walk from Westgate to Circus Circus and check out the new Resorts World. What a mistake! A 20 minute walk to those resorts. The monorail is convenient for all of the other hotels on that side of the strip but take an Uber if you want to hit the Strat or those other hotels. The $13 24 hour deal is great or the two day. Saves a lot of walking.

Hi, can you buy tickets now for a trip in October also if we are going for 9 days and got a 5 day pass do they have to be used from the start date or are they open ?

You can buy online and yes, it starts the day you purchase. There are several options on length of pass you can purchase. It is well worth the price when you consider how much time you can save from walking, traveling the strip and Uber costs.

Vouchers must be presented and redeemed for physical tickets at Las Vegas Monorail Customer Service Booths (open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) located at the following stations: MGM Grand (this station has 2 desks; one near the station’s Underground (former Star Lane)entrance and one near the station’s District Entrance. Bally's/Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's/The LINQ, Westgate, & SLS. Valid only for redemption by individual whose name is printed on voucher. Must present a government I.D. at time of redemption.
If we rent mobility scooters are they allowed on the monorail system?

Yes I would think so. There are elevtors up to the trians and ramps. I would look online for handicap access questions to confirm.
Which hotel has the least amount of walking to get to their entrance to the monorail?

Hello,
The Westgate Hotel has the least amount of walking distance. The Las Vegas Monorail entrance is right outside of the hotel's front entrance. Also, SLS is another option with little walking distance.
Please feel free to contact us with any other questions. You may call (702) 699-8200.

My concern is walking to the monorail. Which hotel needs the least amount of walking to get on the monorail. I remember the Harrah's monorail stop was fairly close to the Hotel.

The monorail has stops at MGM Grand, Bally's/Paris, Flamingo (easy access), Harrah's/Linq, Westgate (very easy access!) & SLS Las Vegas.
We stayed at the Westgate & access is right outside the main entrance to the hotel.
Hope this helps.

If you buy a 4 day ticket do you have to use on consecutive days
LVMC_Monorail

Hello Elizcross,
If you do purchase a 4-day pass, you do have to use the ticket consecutively. Once you first put the ticket through the fare gate system, you have 96 hours until that ticket expires.

Hi:
I wonder if someone can tell me what the two end spots are for the Monorail. I understand one end is the back side of the MGM Grand, what is the other end of the route? How far behind the MGM do you have to walk to get to the Monorail? And how many stops are there along the way to get on and off? Just wondering if the monorail is a good option or the bus system up the strip is better. thanks

SLS station which is near the stratosphere on the north end. You're correct, the south end is at MGM.
