The convention center is huge for the ASD show. Plenty of exhibits. Wear good tennis shoes with jell soles if possible. Bring band aides to put on blisters. Otherwise enjoy and take your time.

The Convention Center itself seems very nice. We've been to several shows there and the property seems to be well-maintained. It's huge, has indoor eating establishments and such...
There's one thing that I can't get over though, and it's that every show that comes must use union labor (in this case, the Teamsters). These guys don't do anything quickly - we waste hours (and a lot of money) waiting for them to do what we could do in minutes. They have found a way to charge for absolutely EVERYTHING.
Want to carry your booth inside? Nope - it'll be $250 for the union to watch you load everything on a cart and then they'll drive you to your location (more trips = more money). Want to vacuum your booth? Nope - $750 for someone to do that for you. Want to pack up your booth and carry it outside? Nope - you'll get billed for that too. This part of the experience REALLY sucks.
We have encountered some good employees working these shows, but some really awful ones too. If you're in support of unions, you'll change your mind after watching the staff wander about the arena with empty carts and dollies for a few hours.
Bottom-line: if you can afford it, ship your booth and pay those guys to do setup and tear-down. It's painfully expensive, but at least you don't have to wait and watch everyone dawdling around.
Haven't found a way around these guys yet, but I'm still looking. I'd rather attend shows that aren't contracted to a union.

Dec 2011 ā¢ Friends
Many people spent their holidays in the US. Do you know you are not reasonably protected when you travel to US? In other words, do you know if a place is of the US government entity, it's immune by law from liabilities even if you get hurt there? i.e., whatever happens, you can't sue them because they belong to the US government.
Kent and I traveled together wth another friend to Las Vegas on Dec 25, 2011 for a 5-day vacation until Dec 29 and we decided to visit the Las Vegas Convention Center in the morning of Dec 27, 2011. Having parked the car in the parking lot facing the South Halls of the Convention Center entrance, Kent walked normally but accidentally kicked on an unexpected curb elevated at an angle off the ground and fell to hit his right eye and forehead on the metal fence. As can be seen from the attached picture, the elevated curb which they called it a "gutter" was actually not very much noticeable under normal sunlight even with the dull blue painted line, and there was no warning sign around. Kent's eye glasses broke, and his right eyelid and the corner of his right eye started to bleed heavily. He also twisted his left leg and hurt an arm.
There were a few vehicles in the parking lot and some unknown driver called for help. The Clark County Fire Dept sent some people to the rescue.
A Security Officer from the Convention and Visitors Authority was there on duty. He gave us his business card and advised us to contact the Convention Center directly since he was inexperienced in handling the complaints.
The Clark County Fire Dept people advised us to go to Sunrise Hospital which was the closest. Kent was then admitted to the Emergency of Sunrise Hospital, and a couple of hours later, he was discharged from the hospital after over a dozen of sutures were done on his right eye and after paying about US$2000 to the hospital. Hence he was billed another US$2000+ for the physician.
Our vacation was ruined. We could not go to the show we had already booked and paid. Kent had to sit on a wheelchair on his way back on Dec 29. And now Kent cannot do anything until he is recovered. This recovery may take another few months.
I have contacted the LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority) to inquire if they had any insurance policy to protect visitors but their Legal Counsel sent me an official reply informing us that they're "a Nevada government entity", so they're "immune by law from liability in this situation". In their official reply letter, they even considered that it's only Kent's negligence so they're not liable for my injury because "the gutter is clearly marked". See the attached picture of the blue gutter, do you agree?
Since the LVCVA does not have an insurance policy to protect visitors, I don't think it's wise to visit there.

As an attendee, the place is ample in size for most shows and gives you a food court with several fast food options however as an exhibitor keep a hand on your wallet! If you are a small exhibitor you will be inconvenienced & overcharged at every turn. While our entire booth fits into 4 average size boxes we were not allowed to unload the boxes at the curb & tote into show but instead directed to unload at the ramp in back so that you had to wait 2 hours for the the union employees to cart the boxes to your booth at a cost of 10 times the going rate. Rude, greedy, aggressive & obnoxious are the best adjectives to describe the people you will come in contact with. If you are Microsoft or General Motors it may not be an issue but if you are a Mom & Pop business operating on a "real budget", prepare for a lesson in all that is wrong with unions in this country!

I love the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), because I have been here for many years to attend both the world's largest Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). The LVCC has millions of square feet of meeting, event and convention space.
The nice thing about the LVCC is that it has been upgraded over the years to easily handle the world's largest trade show namely CES.
The LVCC and Las Vegas has much to offer to handle such large trade shows, which attract 100k or more attendees.
The nice thing about this year is that I had a chance to meet a fellow yelper from back east namely Alice L.

More a tip than a review . . .
If you are going directly to the convention center and are far enough away to consider not walking, take the monorail. It's about the only place that is convenient from the monorail other than the GM Drive. If you take the Duece you still have to walk several blocks unless you transfer to another bus and a taxi will probably cost more than the monorail.

The Las Vegas convention center is large and well laid out. Finding my event was easy as well as easy to get to thanks to the mono rail. The space is clean and well maintained with some bright spots due to large front windows. I felt the space is great for large events as there is plenty of room to move around even when multiple events are being held. As a matter of fact there was another large event happening while I was there and I didnāt even notice it as all events were contained to their own space. Great layout, great design and easy location to get to.

Signage is terrible. No one to assist with questions. Very confusing to figure out where to go for anything (except bathroom.) Terrible signage for shared rides. Really can't believe Vegas can't get their act together for a convention center!

I have been to Las Vegas over two dozen times over the years for both business and vacations. The Las Vegas Convention Center has changed the way you visit the ASD Show.
Years ago, when I first started to attend the ASD Merchandise show it was at the Sands and Riviera Casino. You either had to walk, take a taxi, or bus to get from venue to venue. Now, over the last few years that has changed and for the better.
All areas of the ASD Show are now under one "giant" roof at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It makes it easier and quicker to walk the aisles to search out the merchandise you are looking for. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes as you will definitely be doing a lot of walking.

Starbucks is located in the convention center. The lines are very long and the service is very slow.

Do you have power assist chairs available for handicapped visitors?
Written January 29, 2020
YES, of course. The Las Vegas Convention Center has absolutely everything needed for handicapped visitors. AND by early 2021 (in time for the massive CES convention) there will be underground transportation across the 3/4 mile site

Where do people eat near the convention center? We only have short breaks between class sessions. Are there restaurants on site?
Written April 4, 2019
We found it was too much of a bother to get in a car, head out in that traffic and return in a decent amount of time. We basically ate at the food court there.
