About
We invite you to experience the Carolina sandhills, tucked away minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, in the historic part of Las Vegas. As you begin your Vegas golf round at Desert Pines Golf Club Las Vegas, you will feel transported from the closed-in casinos and overpowering glitz to a place where you can enjoy the fresh, calming scent of real pine trees. This Dye-designed golf course features over 4,000 mature pine trees lining the fairways with green grass running from tees to pins. White sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens fashioned after those at Augusta National Golf Club. Although there are no forced carries, four lakes will add to the excitement and beauty of your round. Spanning more than 50 hitting stations, the Practice Center is ideal for a pre-round warm-up or a stop to practice your swing. The two-level facility is covered, to protect from rain and sunlight, and features misters during summer months and heaters during the winter for ultimate comfort and enjoyment. Extended hours allow flexibility for golfers, with closing times at 11 p.m. The Snack Bar offers the delicious food served, situated conveniently next to the 10th tee box and within walking distance to the parking lot, the Practice Center provides a chance to perfect your game.

Substandard Golf Course
Mar 2021
Muni-type golf course, uninteresting, poorly designed and poorly maintained. Each hole resembles each other. The course is adjacent to I215, a very busy, noisy freeway. On the other side, the course is adjacent to a campus of juvenile justice services where adolescent rapists and murderers live. Judging by the immediate, and surrounding neighborhood, the offenders were picked-up nearby. This course exploits tourists who think it's a good deal to play golf by the Strip; in actuality, the Strip is not close by and requires driving through busy streets the entire way to get to the course. Driving to Paiute, or even Primm, will provide much better golf experiences and cost the same.

Hard to describe.
Mar 2021
This track. Where do i begin? First, it is slow. Like, GLACIAL PACE slow. Plan on a 5+, probably closer to 6 hour round. The course itself was in pretty good shape, the greens were soft but a bit bumpy due to the extra watering, and it is challenging from the back tees.

BEWARE! So many fairways that run right next to another hole. Balls flying everywhere (which adds to the time issue).

The clubhouse is very nice. Nice selection of brews on tap. Food was good.

I think I would play it again, but only if I was promised that they would have 15 minute tee times!

Highly let down.....
Jan 2021
Highly disappointed in this course. There was so much duck and goose poop on the greens we could not putt. This was a very big let down as Desert Pines had came highly recommended to us. Will not return.

Great Course-Great Shape
Feb 2020
As avid Las Vegas golfers my wife Roxanne and I play all over Clark County. We hadn't play at Desert Pines for many years because we didn't like the previous owner.

We played yesterday with our good friend and my co-author of The Bogey Golfer Handbook, Jon Skaggs, PGA.

Boy what a pleasure it was to play there again yesterday. We forgot what a great course it was and it was in tremendous shape.

Talk about some local deals!! Check this out. After 12 rates $40 weekday and $45 weekend $55 and $59 for morning rates but all include LUNCH. What a deal. BTW the restaurant is great!

Golfer Beware
Jan 2020
We booked a foursome online to this golf course. The rate was established at time of booking. Upon check-in the Manager on duty informed us that he had made an Arbitrary Decision to raise the rate given it was Super Bowl Weekend. Matters not that we had a confirmation at a lower rate, or the fact no one was at the club, in the parking lot, or in the breakfast room. It was his decision and his decision alone to make. We were shocked at his attitude and decided not to play given the course was not worth the new price some 250% higher than the price quoted when booked. As such we are now entangled in trying to get a refund given our decision not to pay the Arbitrary Price. Management is totally uncooperative, and cannot grasp that not honoring a price for a game that stresses honor deems this a course we will never visit again... and thus the reason for this review and warning to others.

Not what it once was
Jun 2019
Back in the day, under different ownership, this was an immaculate course. Right now, it’s a little rough around the edges, but the Pete Dye-designed course is still fun to play.

The course is tight and narrow, but not very long. If you can hit the ball fairly straight you should be able to score. The holes are interesting with a lot of trouble lurking about. It’s definitely not a boring place to play.

The course is in the middle of the ghetto. So lock your car.

Fun
May 2019 • Solo
Of course it’s self is in fairly nice shape. The track is a little tight as there was a lot of fairway sharing. Play absolute need to get some new range balls, As they are worn out. Sure and check GolfNow for a good price. Not my favorite course in Las Vegas but it was fun to play.

Fun course
Apr 2019 • Solo
This is a fun course to play. It has a lot packed into a small package. A typical Dye design with plenty of bunkers, rolling fairways and greens. Narrow fairways and some surprises. Overall in good shape and a good price for in city golf.

Very hard especially with wind
Feb 2019 • Friends
OMG. This course plays very difficult with wind. We had 25 mph. Very tight fairways and very fast greens. Not is the best shape but very playable. Doubt if I would return. A few extremely long par 4's - like 460.

Great Day
Feb 2019 • Friends
Course in great shape. Good hospitality by the employees. We got paired up with a single, he was very friendly. The one down side was the rentals sand wedges had terrible grips. But overall we had a great time and would recommend this course to be a must play.
